"If you're passionate about a particular technique - and you can apply that to a wearable art form - you have every chance in the world of success. That goes from any age, any stage, any professional background - people should not underestimate how accessible it actually is." As Head of Competition Sarah Nathan tells The Big Idea I Te Ariā Nui, WOW designers come from an extraordinary range of backgrounds and disciplines. As well as fashion designers, costume designers, milliners and photographers, we have electricians, GPs, vets, landscape specialists, hairdressers, architects and boat builders among the WOW designer community. Entries for the 2025 WOW Competition are currently open. #callingallcreators #2025WOWCompetition https://lnkd.in/g3yngEVS

We couldn’t be prouder to share that the 2024 WOW Show: DREAM AWAKE was the most successful ever for Wellington. The economic impact assessment commissioned by WellingtonNZ has found that for the third time, we delivered an economic boost of over $30m (almost $32m this year!), bringing in over 71,000 visitor nights and over $21m in visitor spend. We also again saw near perfect satisfaction, with a 96% rating from ticket buyers. WOW-goers – including locals - spent almost $6m on food and drink as a result of their attendance, injecting much needed business into our wonderful hospitality sector. We are humbled by the incredible feedback and so proud of the team of 350 who again pulled together a world class show made locally that brought joy and awe to attendees, business into the city, and provided a platform for the world’s creative storytellers. It’s a fitting time to also announce the extension of our strategic partnership with Wellington through until at least 2029. Pictured: A packed TSB Arena enjoying 2024 WOW Show: DREAM AWAKE.
