Young Enterprise

We are looking for organisations to join us as 'corporate hosts' at one (or both!) of our upcoming programmes. Signing up to be a corporate host is a unique opportunity for companies, big or small, to make a meaningful impact by helping us to nurture the next generation of young entrepreneurs and future business leaders. As a corporate host, you are signing up to hang out with a team of secondary school students, mentoring them through a business challenge, providing guidance and coaching throughout the experience. Each corporate host require a minimum of two hosts to be present throughout the programme. Young Navigators 📍 Auckland ⏰ 15th & 16th of April 🥳 Unites 36 exceptional Maori and Pasifika young minds from across Aotearoa, immersing them in three days of enterprise focused activities in Tāmaki Makaurau. Students will connect and collaborate in teams to respond to a business challenge. Entrepreneurs in Action (EIA) 📍 Wellington ⏰ 27-29th of June 🥳 60 passionate YES students from across Aotearoa join us for a weekend in Wellington! We like to refer to EIA as a startup weekend on steroids which will see students work in teams on two business challenges.

It was great to have Olivia Wu, a recent YES alumna, join us as a facilitator to kick off the first Business Challenge at Amuri Area School for 2025. Well done Olivia! 👏

Year 12 Cashmere High School YES student and our recent 2024 National Excellence Award for Innovation Winner, Cairo Akehurst, has been awarded the Prime Minister's Space Prize for student endeavour - an epic recognition for his company Cattle Credit. We are super excited to see where Cairo takes Cattle Credit in the second year of his YES journey - watching this space! Matt Benassi

Our 2024 YES Tairāwhiti Regional Champions, Tuakiri, from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Horouta Wānanga made history as the first team to deliver their pitch in entirely Māori at our YES National Pitches last week! Whakaata Māori joined us to celebrate the occasion to share Tuakiri's story and the company's success on their Young Enterprise Scheme journey this year. We are still buzzing after celebrating young entrepreneurs from across Aotearoa at our YES National Awards in Wellington last week. With a record-breaking number of 5000+ students participating in YES, the competition was strong, following another huge year of success, innovation and hard work for over 1200 companies across the country. Congratulations to The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme Company of the Year 2024 winners, Treet Yourself Contracting from Aparima College, Southland. The Sir John Todd Memorial Award for 2nd Place was awarded to Seadown Road from Timaru Boys High School and Timaru Girls High School.
