  • The difference between fit people and people who constantly struggle to be fit is not the exercise selection or breakfast choice. Fit people look for discomfort, lean into it and even enjoy it. The rest are constantly looking for hacks, shortcuts and the minimum they can do. Until you flick this switch you'll only be skirting around the edges of how great you can really feel. It’s not about just “working hard”, it’s about committing to something you’ll do for life. No one ever got in great shape by dipping their toe in. They committed to a new way of life. They start to identify with how they want to look and feel. The answers come after the decision, not before.

  • There’s one HUGE obstacle when it comes to health. For many, it’s a bit of a deal breaker… You can be less than optimal at many things but if you don’t have this, you’re stuck. That obstacle is DISCOMFORT. Discomfort in changing habits. Discomfort in having hard conversations (with yourself or others). Discomfort in feeling hunger. Discomfort in pushing your body. Why do I bring this up? I’ve had a few conversations with people wanting to join our program recently saying "Nothing works!" and I am very hesitant to work with someone like this… Because a smarter approach is only part of the picture. Discomfort is a prerequisite to things working better. Sure weights are going to be better than running for fat loss. But running is still better than doing nothing. I wouldn’t be a coach without highlighting what’s required. Did you push yourself this week?

  • "I will outwork anyone" This one statement/belief has made some incredibly successful people in business and sports. The trouble is, that it also regularly creates misery. This tunnel vision to achieve something at all costs means that this energy is pulled away from everything else. In a presentation I ran recently I shared a story of Larry Miller. He was a massively successful businessman who was worth many many zeros, but died young of diabetes and hardly knew his kids... Pretty quickly you realise success is not monetary. Once you reach a certain level in business, the easiest thing to do is to keep working. Read that again: "The easiest thing to do is to keep working." This phrase had been circling around in my head and I shared it with a client today and the penny dropped. You're successful in your role/business but you're not doing so well in these other areas... It's easier to ignore it, it requires confidence to change course. I see this all the time with myself and others. "I just have one more email to do." And the best way to fix it? Your calendar. Show me your calendar and I'll show you your priorities. "I can't put a walk in my calendar" is the exact person who walks zero steps a day and has high blood pressure. There is only one of you, so I only have one calendar. For me, meetings. walks, lunch, date nights, they're all there, so they get done. Hope this helps 💪
