Stayed here in a twin room that had bunkbeds. Room was tiny but really only slept in it so it was perfect, bed very comfy and clean and fresh linen. Bathroom was a nice surprise, shower better than my one at home. Very steep stairs bit everywhere in Amsterdam is like that. Centrally located and easy to find. Very plain and simple but excellent for the price

We arrived early (about 11.30am) to leave our bags but we were kindly offered a room that was available straight away which was very kind. Our room was clean and spacious. Nice clean linen and comfy beds with a nice view of the Main Street. Air con/heating worked well. No street noise at night that I noticed although we were on the 4th floor. All staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Lovely free coffee in reception area. Great budget hotel in an excellent location. Will definitely stay here again

First off this hotel helped us out last minute when easyjet cancelled our flight and we were stuck in Amsterdam two extra days. For the price we paid the rooms were pretty good we had a room with 4 big single beds in it between two of us , fresh towels and a good sized (although dated ) bathroom with bath and shower. Toiletries were in the bathroom. No fridge in the room and being in the basement i couldn't get any mobile phone signal (vodafone). Reception was big and clean with vending machines for snacks. Our room was in the basement right at the very end next to some sort of courtyard bin area which you could smell a tad in the room . for us it did the job but for a family or anyone else it may be best to not have the rooms in the basement . The staff member we encountered on the night shift was very polite and happy to help. Lastly our door was pretty faulty had to get my keycard reformatted in the middle of the night because i couldn't get in and even after that it was hit and miss how many attempts it would take to unlock the door usually a good 5 attempts.

Such a great experience, the hotel is located in a perfect distance to the city centre/shops and Amsterdam Centraal train station. All reception staff were lovely and easy to communicate with. The room was more on the smaller side however this is bound to be the case as all buildings in Amsterdam are tall and slim. The room was clean, the bed was large and comfy with clean sheets and comfy pillows. The bathroom was clean, the only negative I can think of is that there’s no separation between the shower and toilet space so the floor may get a little bit wet. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay in Amsterdam

On arrival ill be honest, i wasnt hopeful. We went in and paid the city tax and was then told we had to pay an additional €50 (which we’d get back the day after check out) for a reason im unsure of, which isnt a MASSIVE issue but when you’re running a tight money cap it was a tad irritating. The STAIRS are a whole other topic. Genuinely almost vertical and not very long (meaning you have to step with your foot to the side if youre larger than a size 4). Having to find a way to drag a 26kilo suitcase up and down those things whilst also trying not to break your neck is a SERIOUS task. We discovered there was actually multiple buildings to the hotel and we were on the other side of the road (genuinely only about 5 feet away) and when we got to our room had the hugest sigh of relief. Our room was absolutely incredible! Lovely twin room with a whole wall of windows (great for a bit of people watching), lovely bathroom and shower and a free fan!! We adored our room, cannot fault it in ANY way other than the fact the room came with a hairdryer attached to the wall, but nowhere in the bathroom to plug it in. Honestly would recommend. After a treacherous journey up the stairs, the room is worth it in the end! Best time here. Would book again! Please be careful of the stairs

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on business. My experience was generally positive however there are some areas for consideration before you reserve. The hotel is a long walk with luggage from the train station. It is positioned in a street where one of your neighbours is a Red Cross centre. There are some issues with either homeless or fragile people in the area during the night. I am a 2m tall man so it does not bother me but it would not be the same if I was a woman. Upsides include the proximity of a large supermarket. The hotel itself is quite modern. I was in a room with a private terrace but it was actually in the basement so natural light was very limited. My room was comfortable and furnished according to the standards of the brand. The bathroom was clean and modern. My room did have a number of cobwebs on the ceiling which is in part, no doubt, due to being on level -1. The rooms are separated into several buildings joined by passageways so bear this in mind if you have a big suitcase, it may take a while to reach your room. The breakfast room is only open for breakfast which is a shame, since there is no restaurant (which is normal for the brand, no issues) and the space would be useful to eat (delivered or take away) dinner. At reception there are, in my opinion, too many people milling around. When I arrived it took a moment to raise their attention from chatting amongst themselves and get started on the paperwork, added to which after giving my passport they gave me someone else’s paperwork. Remember the first impression for a frequent traveller is how efficient you are - less people to chat with would mean more focus on the job. While I was there IHG suffered a well publicised data breach so I am not commenting on the issues regarding computer system failures. Finally, I would say this is a hotel which makes sense for a couple with little luggage and no work pressures.

I love the location. Its close to Dam Square and shopping street. 7 minswalk to Amsterdam Central Station so its convenient. Toilet bowl has stain and not well cleaned. Room is comfortable overall. I love the breakfast and friendly staff.

This is a largely self service hotel. It’s clean and well located. A short walk to the sites in the city. There is a geothermally heated outdoor pool in walking distance also. Olympic sized lap pool as well as soaking pools. Amazing to swim laps or just soak on a cold day.

My stay at the MAI hotel fills me with mixed emotions. Before booking I researched many hotels, as this was a belated anniversary trip and we wanted a boutique hotel close to the attractions. On arrival we were pleasantly suprised by the location, being within 10 mins walk from Amterdam Central station and situated on the 'Canals'. I had reserved the 'King Size - Canal View' room (with the love package) but on arrival there was much confusion. The hotel reception was manned only by 'Edwin', who seemed to be over whelmed with the queue of people waiting and we were eventually checked into the incorrect room. After spending 10 minutes in the wrong room, we returned to reception to complain. Edwin looked extremely confused, was unsure how the system had allocated this room but was finally able to book us into the correct room. The Canal View room was nice and spacious but not as luxurious as we had expected. We were also dissapointed by the lack of a staffed bar but it did have an 'Honesty' bar, which is a fancy way of saying serve yourself and pay. In summary this is a hotel that flattered to decieve and looks to be suffereing the affects of being short staffed. It felt like staying in a very nice Hostel, rather than a choice boutique hotel,

Very cozy, clean, authentically decorated hotel. Delicious breakfasts. Cookies and hot drinks are available in the lobby throughout the day. Two handsome cats live in the hotel. The disadvantages of the hotel include the small size of the rooms, but this problem is typical for many European hotels located in the historical center of the city.
