Yonghe Temple

Yonghe Temple was once the residence of Emperor Yongzheng, and Emperor Qianlong was born here. It was later converted into the highest center of Tibetan Buddhism affairs in the Qing government. Yonghe Temple is solemn and majestic, with a high standard. Since it is not as famous as the Forbidden City, tourists on short trips generally do not come here, so there are not many people here, making it a quiet place. Yonghe Temple is very close to the Imperial College and the Temple of Confucius, so you can visit them all in one day. The most distinctive feature of Yonghe Temple is the bells on the eaves. When the breeze blows, the bells sway with the wind, and the sound is not crisp, but rather low and echoing. When a flock of pigeons flies by, the sound of the pigeon whistles and the echo of the bells form a wonderful mixed sound, which is somewhat sacred and inexplicably moving. The Ming and Qing buildings in Beijing are grand and magnificent, with large gardens, regular layouts, and imposing patterns, and Yonghe Temple is no exception.
