Badaling Great Wall

Preparation • Ticket purchase: Adult tickets are CNY 40 per person, and student tickets are CNY 20 per person. Tickets can be reserved up to 7 days in advance via the "长城内外旅游" WeChat mini program. • Best time to visit: Spring and autumn are the best times to visit the Badaling Great Wall, as the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists. Summer is hot, so be sure to take precautions against heatstroke. In winter, the Great Wall is covered in snow, which is a unique sight, but be sure to dress warmly. Transportation • High-speed rail: Depart from Beijing North Railway Station or Qinghe Railway Station. The journey takes about 30 minutes to Badaling Great Wall Station, and tickets cost about CNY 20. • Bus: Take bus 877 from Deshengmen Station. The journey takes about 1.5 hours, and tickets cost CNY 6. • S2 Suburban Railway: Depart from Huangtudian Station to Badaling Station. The journey takes about 1 hour, and tickets cost CNY 7. Itinerary • Cable car route: Take the cable car from the North Line cable car station to the North Eighth Tower. You can continue hiking up the wall, then hike back down, passing the South First Tower, Badaling Cultural Street, and the Great Wall Museum. • Toboggan route: Take bus 877 to the Badaling Great Wall, then take the toboggan up the wall and visit the Bear Park. Hike from the North Fourth Tower to the North Eighth Tower to take photos and enjoy the scenery. In the afternoon, return the way you came, take the toboggan back down the wall, and take bus 877 back to Deshengmen. • North and South route: Hike from the South First Tower to the South Seventh Tower, return to the South First Tower, then hike from the North First Tower to the North Eighth Tower, return to the North Seventh Tower, and take the cable car back down. Main attractions • Hero Stone: Located at the North Fourth Tower of the North Great Wall, this is a popular spot for tourists to take photos with the "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man" stone. • Hero Slope: Located between the North Seventh Tower and the North Eighth Tower, this section of the Great Wall is steep and challenging. Climb the Hero Slope to enjoy a panoramic view of the Great Wall. • South Fourth Tower: The highest point of the South Great Wall, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the North Great Wall and its winding, undulating scenery. Food recommendations • Badaling Great Wall Food Plaza: Offers a variety of fast food, snacks, and restaurants, such as KFC and McDonald's, to suit the tastes of different tourists. • Nearby farmhouses: There are some farmhouses around the Badaling Great Wall that offer local specialties, such as iron pot stew and farmhouse stir-fry. Reminders • The Great Wall is completely outdoors. In summer, be sure to take precautions against sunburn, such as bringing a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
