Guanyin Temple in Dali

In the Tang Dynasty, there is a legend that the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin, transformed into an 80-year-old woman carrying a large stone on her back to block the soldiers from attacking Dali city. When the soldiers saw that even the elderly in the city were so strong, they believed that the young people must be incredibly powerful fighters. As a result, they retreated, and the people of Dali built this temple as a symbol of their city.
