About the scenic area: Mingyue Gorge, also known as Chaotian Gorge, is a national 4A-level scenic area located in Chaotian District, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province. As of May 26, 2015, it covers an area of 6.1 square kilometers and is an important part of the Jianmen Shudao, a national scenic area and a key cultural relic under state protection. It is known as the "Chinese Museum of Historical Transportation" and a "living fossil of ancient and modern transportation." About the geographical environment: Mingyue Gorge is located on the Jialing River and is a canyon formed by the Jialing River breaking through the mountains. The canyon is about 4 kilometers long, with steep cliffs on both sides. It is known as the northern gate of Sichuan and a key transportation hub for entering and leaving Sichuan. About the scenic area culture: "Mingyue" is derived from Li Bai's poem "The breeze is clear, the bright moon is bright." Another theory is that Zhuge Liang's book boy Mingyue was buried here, so Chaotian Gorge was renamed Mingyue Gorge. The Mingyue Gorge plank road is the earliest excavated, most scientifically structured, most well-preserved, and most ancient plank road section in China, with the most remaining holes. The difficulty of the Shudao reaches its limit here.
