| Yuan Dynasty stage. Niuwang Temple, also known as "Sanwang Temple," was built in the late Song and early Yuan dynasties. It is the oldest and best-preserved cultural relic in Weicun. The temple enshrines statues of the Bull King, Horse King, and Medicine King. The stage in Niuwang Temple is more famous. The stage faces north and is built on a platform more than 1 meter high. It is nearly square, with a single-eave hip roof. The front eaves and the front of the gables are exposed, while the rear eaves and the rear of the gables are walled. The gable wall is about one-third of the total length of the gable. The large dougong is placed on the four corner pillars, and 12 dougongs are placed around the eaves. The stage in Niuwang Temple is one of the earliest wooden stages from the Yuan Dynasty. I wonder if the Bull King's mansion in the movie "A Chinese Odyssey" was filmed here.
