A guide to open-air hot springs in the winter wonderland of Japan's mountains!

After 4 hours of traveling, I was almost carsick on the winding mountain roads, but all the pain disappeared when I arrived! What a hidden gem! 📢Features: This hot spring is one of the best in Fukuchi Onsen, with a large area, many pools, and a high water output. There are 8 private baths and 4 large pools, so you don't have to worry about not being able to get in. I prefer the outdoor private baths across the road, which are hotter and more comfortable. I was lucky enough to enjoy the pleasure of soaking in an outdoor hot spring while it was snowing in winter. 👪Transportation: It was very comfortable. As for transportation, I took the 10:30 Nohi Bus from Meitetsu Nagoya Station to Takayama, then transferred to the bus to Shin-Hotaka at 13:40, and got off at H41, which is right in front of the inn. I suggest that those who get carsick take some medicine in advance, as the last section of the mountain road is a bit dizzying. 🫵Summary and tips: It was a truly beautiful experience, and I recommend it to those who can spare an extra day for Takayama. It's really worth it!
