The colorful forest of Zhangdu Lake

In the Zhangdu Lake Wetland Forest Park in Xinzhou District, Wuhan, more than 10,000 pond cypress trees have turned red. The sunlight shining through the trees creates a fairy-tale world. Who says winter is not colorful? The colorful forest of Zhangdu Lake is a sight not to be missed in winter. The pond cypress is a first-class protected plant in China. It was born in the Cretaceous and Cenozoic periods more than 100 million years ago. However, after the Quaternary Ice Age, the pond cypress almost became extinct. The "mountain glaciers" scattered in central China are the "refuges" of a few plants, allowing the pond cypress to survive the Quaternary glacial disaster and become a living fossil of plants. I feel like I see pond cypress everywhere in the south.
