A must-see in Xi'an! Big Wild Goose Pagoda travel guide

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, also known as the "Ci'en Temple Pagoda," is located in the Da Ci'en Temple. It was first built in the third year of the Yonghui era of the Tang dynasty (652 AD) under the supervision of Master Xuanzang to store the Buddhist scriptures and statues he brought back from India via the Silk Road. After many changes, the pagoda is now 64.5 meters high, with seven floors and a base length of 25.5 meters. It is the earliest and largest Tang dynasty square pavilion-style brick pagoda still in existence. I was deeply impressed when I first visited the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The pagoda is made of bricks, with a sophisticated and stable structure and exquisite reliefs on the outer walls, showcasing the artistic style of the Tang dynasty and Buddhist stories. From the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Xi'an. At night, the pagoda is illuminated, creating a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. 📍Address: The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple in Yanta District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. 🕙Opening hours: 8:00–17:30. Tickets cost CNY 40 in peak season, CNY 30 in off-peak season, and CNY 20 for students. 🚉Transportation: You can drive to the "Big Wild Goose Pagoda" or take Metro Line 3 to "Dayanta" Station and exit from Exit C (southeast). You can also take Bus 609 to Yanta West Road East Station and walk 730 meters to the pagoda. ❤Photography tips: If you love photography, you can take photos around the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, as there are many good spots. The Tang Da Ci'en Temple Ruins Park is a great place to take photos of the Buddha and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda together. It is less crowded, has beautiful scenery, and a great atmosphere. The park is free and does not require reservations. The south square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a good place to take photos of Master Xuanzang and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda together, but it is more crowded. The rooftop platform of Joy City has several photo spots, with plenty of space and fewer people, making it a great place to take photos of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In addition, the red courtyard wall in front of Gate 3 of Joy City is a great place to take photos of Hanfu and the red wall. 📝Tips: If you are visiting Xi'an on the weekend, we recommend going on Sunday, as it is less crowded than Saturday.
