Xi'an MixC Mall Opening

At the end of 2024, one of the most talked-about events in Xi'an was the completion and opening of the new landmark building, MixC Mall, in the southern suburbs. In the days leading up to the opening, news of the event was all over the city media, attracting the attention of the public. MixC Mall is located next to the TV Tower in the southern suburbs of Xi'an, on the site of the former Qujiang Convention and Exhibition Center, facing the Shaanxi Radio and Television Tower to the west and the Shaanxi Sui and Tang Dynasties Temple Ruins Park to the north. Not far from here are Daxingshan Temple, Guanyin Temple, Da Ci'en Temple, and many other temples and historical sites, making it a core area rich in tourism and commercial resources. As locals, we naturally have the convenience of being "close to the water," so we chose a weekend to visit, check in, and experience it with our family. According to the information, the total construction area of MixC Mall is over 1 million square meters, with a complex area of over 500,000 square meters and a commercial building area of over 150,000 square meters, making it a huge commercial city. As soon as we got out of the car, a commercial CBD with a blend of classical and modern styles came into view: the overall architectural style is divided into east and west parts, like two arms embracing a tower-shaped building, which is the eye-catching "Tree of Life." The "Tree of Life" is an ancillary landscape building of MixC Mall, designed by the famous British designer Thomas Heatherwick and his team, inspired by the ginkgo tree at the nearby Guanyin Temple, with a unique and distinctive shape. The ancient ginkgo tree was planted by Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, and is still growing in the Guanyin Temple, recording the changes of a thousand years. Now, after being absorbed, integrated, and borrowed by modern designers, this "Tree of Life" has once again blossomed in a new form on the historical stage of the ancient city of Xi'an. The "Tree of Life" in MixC Mall is a pure steel structure with seven floors, perhaps in line with the Buddhist "seven-story pagoda," or perhaps it is a new creation of ancient meaning, presenting the seven natural ecological landscapes of the ancient Silk Road in order from the roots to the crown to the top of the tree. The interior of the "Tree of Life" is a spiral staircase, and you can climb to the top of the "tree" to see the surrounding scenery; after nightfall, you can also enjoy the colorful light show, making it a new landmark building in Xi'an. The main building of MixC Mall also adopts a combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles, using architectural elements such as flying eaves and painted pottery from ancient Chinese architecture, as well as curved designs from Western architecture and modern TABLE stacked building frames, stacking multiple planes of different levels together to create many architectural art innovations. This artistic innovation is more evident in the interior details of MixC Mall: tree bark-textured walls, ginkgo leaf-shaped domes, branch Y-shaped solid wood handrails, elevator buttons with renewable ceramic craftsmanship... waiting for consumers, tourists, and art lovers with further interest in architectural art to explore, experience, and visit. The industry has commented that MixC Mall is a new attempt to break the boundaries between commerce, real estate, and museums and make them an organic whole. As a top mall in Xi'an, shopping is naturally the main function of MixC Mall, and for this purpose, MixC Mall has planned different commercial spaces: the luxury avenue showcasing international fashion, the miracle avenue showcasing high-end lifestyles, the oriental garden gathering emerging trendy brands, the elegant promenade with viewing and resting functions, the sunny pavilion gathering gourmet food from all over the world, and the most beautiful corner of the landscape space, "Bamboo Light and Shadow," perfectly meeting the commercial functions of travel, shopping, and entertainment. Standing in MixC Mall, you can not only experience a modern and fresh shopping experience but also have a sense of historical re-enactment of "all nations coming to court," where time and space intersect, as if real and illusory. From a commercial perspective alone, although Xi'an MixC Mall is the leader in Xi'an's commerce, it is not the best compared to the commercial formats of other major cities in China, which may be related to the nature of Xi'an people. From a historical perspective, the completion of MixC Mall can also be said to be a metaphor for a "prosperous era" - after a thousand years of vicissitudes, the ancient capital of Chang'an has finally regained its new glory. However, the Chinese people also have their own profound wisdom, which is "the moon is full, things are full," and the day when the flowers are in full bloom is the time when they wither. However, as a Xi'an native who is fortunate enough to be born in China, I still bless my hometown for its ever-changing development and sincerely hope that in the next thousand years, Xi'an will continue to carry the blood and heritage of the Chinese nation, like the "Tree of Life," and after countless ups and downs, it will still be alive and well, long-lasting and peaceful, and welcome the next glory!
