A backpacker in Monaco
To visit Monaco, I travelled to the city of Nice, 15 kilometres west of this country. If you buy a ticket at the right time, you can get to Nice by train and bus from various European cities such as Milan, Italy (between 20 and 30 euros) and Paris, France (between 25 and 45 euros). There are also flights to Nice from various Schengen countries, operated by Ryanair, Wizz Air and EasyJet, which are sometimes cheaper than buses and trains (because of the flexibility you have in choosing your time and route). The train from Nice airport and the Intercity bus station (next to Terminal 1 of the same airport) to the city centre costs less than 2 euros.
As it is much cheaper to stay in Nice than in Monaco, it makes sense to stay in Nice. When I saw that booking a room at the Hotel de Berne for two people was cheaper than the cost of two beds in a hostel (the total cost for two people is 45 euros per night), we chose this hotel to stay (as opposed to my usual practice of staying in a hostel). It should be noted that the published statistics and costs refer to 27 January 2023, and these costs may change (be more or less) in different seasons or in the coming years.
At sunrise we went to the Nice-Ville station, just 150 metres from our accommodation, to catch the train to Monaco. A one-way ticket from Nice to Monaco and vice versa costs 4 euros each and departures are from around 6am to 11pm (every half hour). We arrived at Monte Carlo station in about 15 minutes and the sightseeing of Monaco began.
Although Monaco was not a common destination for backpackers like us, we did not feel out of place at all.
Best places to visit:
Monte Carlo Casino, Un Jardin d'acclimatation, Port of Monte Carlo, The Prince's Palace of Monaco, Saint Nicholas Cathedral, Oceanography Museum

Iconic casino in Monaco 🇲🇨🎰
#timetotravel
To my friends and I, the building is iconic because of the movie “Monte Carlo” starring Selena Gomez. We tried to take pictures at every filming location we could find!!
The casino of Monte Carlo is really busy and packed with tourists.
To enter the casino, there is an entrance fee of €18 and dress code. You also have to bring your passport along. Since none of us really gamble, so we did not bother entering the casino but merely the lobby for pictures.

Larvotto Beach
Since we are at the Mediterranean why not go to a beach? This popular, artificial beach features clear waters, a volleyball court & a scenic promenade. Perfect to finish off your day in Monaco.
Entrance is free and the water is crystal clear just like in Sharm El Sheikh. Nearby you will see a few restaurants and bars where you can sit and enjoy your favourite adult beverage.
Although it's a small beach, it's actually not bad considering the size of Monaco. Even if you don't go swimming or sunbathing, you can visit the beach and have a nice walk around.

Le Metropole Shopping Center
Le Metropole Shopping Center is all about luxury living, which is obvious when you see its lavish furnishings of crystal chandeliers, Italian marble floors, and upscale brands. With 80 shops selling everything from gourmet food and beauty treatments to designer clothes and exclusive timepieces, you’ll find most of your shopping needs met under the highly ornate ceiling.
A good spot to escape the summer heat and humidity, you’ll also find a handful of swanky restaurants inside. Great if you need refuelling while you shop. With lots of high-end boutiques and exclusive brands available at Le Metropole Shopping Center, it should be no surprise that things aren’t cheap here. Even if a wild shopping spree isn’t on your itinerary, the window-shopping alone may well make a trip here worthwhile. 😊

A charming and vibrant city - Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo is a famous city in Monaco, known for its high-end hotels and racetracks. It is not only a gathering place for celebrities from around the world, but also a world-renowned tourist destination.
Monte Carlo's magnificent architecture attracts countless tourists. The high-end, atmospheric, and ancient buildings were built in the mid-19th century and designed by the same designer of the Paris Opera House, Garnier. The interior is gorgeously decorated like a palace, attracting people from all over the world.
In addition, Monte Carlo is also famous for its annual F1 racing competition, attracting the attention of racing enthusiasts worldwide. The night view here is even more beautiful, with neon-lit streets and buildings full of romance and mystery.
The various models of cars in the parking lot and the various yachts on the dock have become a unique scenery: people take photos leaning against the cars, and the birds on the statues quietly watch the world... Monte Carlo is a charming and vibrant city worth visiting.

The luxurious Monaco
Monaco was absolutely one of the most luxurious tourist country I have visited. The brands and cars are absolutely stunning. Monaco would leave behind the people from Dubai for me. I have seen old class and true money here. Its just so beautiful and also expensive but it is worth it. I think you can cover most of it in One day, as the main attraction is the Monte Carlo Casino.
The 🏖️Ambiance/Facilities: at the casino and hotel Paris was just the best luxury I have experienced
💰Average Price per Person: 150 Gbp /200 euro a day depending on the activities like boat ride, gambling, food and drinks

Monaco has earned the reputation of the ‘playground of the rich’. It is one of the most glamorous places along the chic French Riviera.
1. Visit the Monte Carlo casino
It’s a great place to start your day in Monaco as it is signposted from within the train station! Anyone can step inside the atrium to have a look at the grand decor, and take a couple of photos without having to pay a penny. However, if you want to enter the casino itself, admission is €17. There’s also a strict dress code and you will need to show ID to prove that you are over 18.
2. Visit the Princess Grace Japanese Garden
They were designed with strict zen principles by Japanese architect, Yasuo Beppu at the request of Prince Rainier III. In the centre of the garden is a small pond and bridge with a little tea house. Entry is free and the gardens are a beautiful slice of calm within the busy city.
3. See the Monte-Carlo Opera house
4. See the luxury yachts in Port Hercules
This is the glamorous marina where the world-renowned Monaco Yacht show is held. The Yacht show is Europe’s largest display of luxury yachts in water and attracts thousands of visitors every year in late September.
5. See the Prince’s Palace of Monaco
On the corner of Avenue du Port, you will see a set of stairs in stone ramparts. Follow signs up the stairs for ‘Harbour viewpoint’ or ‘Vue Panoramic’. Continue all the way to the top of the stairs until you arrive at the top viewpoint.
If you want to visit one of the palace museums, to see the apartments, car collection or zoo, there is a fee. However you can enjoy the outside of the Palace for free. You might even catch the changing of the guards.

Tell me you're in Monaco without telling me..
You will know you are in Monaco from the moment you step into this beautiful land. You can smell money in the air, ever few seconds an Italian car passes by and it feels like a whole new land! Food is exotic and there is luxury everywhere, drinks are quite on the expensive side ofcourse but watching everyone being happy is blissful. Take a train from Marseille or Nice and you're good.

Quest Journey
Monaco, Monte Carlo
Monaco🇲🇨, a tiny principality in Europe, covers an area of about 200 hectares and is the second smallest country in the world, yet it is the smallest member state of the United Nations. Surrounded by France on three sides, it faces the Mediterranean Sea to the south, small but not lacking in beauty and luxury. The architecture nestled against the mountains and by the sea is quite spectacular. Monaco is still a principality to this day, not a member of the European Union, but within the EU customs territory, there are no customs checks when entering or leaving Monaco from France. The currency within its borders is the euro. It seems to be the same as the EU, but it has its own independent network signal. My mobile phone number from European countries had no network signal in Monaco, and Hong Kong tourists I met during my visit also had no signal .
The Grimaldi family, who came to this area from the Genoa region of Italy, has ruled Monaco for most of the time since 1297, except when it was occupied during the French Revolution and lost territory in 1848. It was not until 1860 that France recognized Monaco's independence. With the signing of a monetary agreement with France and the opening of the Monte Carlo 'Macau industry', Monaco's economy miraculously recovered. Today, the country relies on the income from the 'Macau industry' and tourism to become one of the wealthiest countries in the world, with a per capita income among the highest in the world. The total population of the country is estimated to be less than 40,000, with over 100 nationalities, and about 6,000 are Monegasque.
The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco is a tourist attraction that is very popular with visitors, built on a cliff, with an entrance fee of 18 euros. It has a history of over 100 years and, in addition to the aquarium, has 90 tanks housing about 450 species of Mediterranean and tropical marine life. The entire aquarium is maintained by circulating seawater directly from the Mediterranean to sustain the marine life. There is also a touch pool that opens during children's holidays, allowing children to have close contact with the fish, but a separate ticket is required. In addition to the aquarium, there is also an exhibition that introduces the history of oceanography and marine biology knowledge.
Monaco City is the main tourist area, where the royal palace is located, guarded by the royal cavalry. There is a changing of the guard ceremony at noon every day, which should not be missed. Monaco City is full of winding paths and gardens shaded by green trees, with many viewing platforms from which you can overlook the panorama of Monaco from different angles. The Saint Martin Gardens and the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate are both on the way from the harbor to the palace.
You can take the French rail train to and from Nice, with a round trip for two people costing less than 20 euros, to the Monaco Monte Carlo station. There are many trains back and forth every day, and these two stations are major stops where most trains will stop. Just watch the scrolling screen for the station names. After leaving the station, turn left to go towards the 'Macau industry' and the yacht marina, where you can reach the yacht harbor pool. To the right is Monaco City, where the main attractions are concentrated.
I had no network signal on my phone, so I relied entirely on Wi-Fi from attractions and hotels to find my way. It was a tight schedule for one day, but it went smoothly. The scenery is beautiful and uplifting.

Monaco's dreamy azure coast vacation, you are my god!
Hi, the Mid-Autumn National Day holiday is coming soon👋, I want to share a super 🔥 secret with you: my long-cherished Monte Carlo seaside resort!✨
This trip is simply a dream come true!🌈 I came to Monaco's "Monte Carlo Secret Hotel" this time, and booked a very interesting parent-child suite early, as if I were in a dream world!
I have to mention that the hotel's V.I.K parent-child service is very intimate, and has prepared many welcome gifts for the children who stay, such as fresh juice, chocolate lollipops🍭 and coloring sets. Game room, chessboard, mini football field, simply children's favorite!
Opposite the Oceanographic Museum here, you can also take a sightseeing train to tour Monaco and feel the charm of this "City of Princes"! If you drive by yourself, you can reach the old town of Nice in 35 minutes. The surrounding short-distance South France tour is very convenient
In the morning, I will wake up in the sound of the waves, and then admire the incomparable super beautiful sea view🍽️ on the balcony. In the afternoon, I will participate in water experience courses, such as surfing and diving, etc., and feel like I have become an adventurer!🏄♀️ If you are tired, arrange a hydrotherapy SPA to completely relax yourself😎 .
Dinner specially went to check in a super fire🔥 Michelin three-star restaurant "Monte Carlo Louis XV-Alain Ducasse Restaurant", I heard that there will be a flash event during the National Day in Sanya Edison. The Michelin two-star chef of Blue Bay will be on the scene to cook. Don't miss the foodies!
Facing such a beautiful sea view, wine and music are a perfect match🍻, the signature cocktail super great jazz style American bar, the hotel's Crystal Bar and outdoor wine lounge...
This "legendary everywhere" place interprets a unique lifestyle for a century, and the entire azure coast gives an indescribable shock experience.
The service of the entire resort is top-notch! Their enthusiasm made me feel very warm🥰
I want to strongly recommend this hotel to all friends who like luxury vacations and beautiful sea views! You will definitely fall in love with this dreamy vacation treasure!

Experience a vacation vibe with the perfect accommodation choice during Monaco F1.
The long-standing Monaco Grand Prix is known for this glamorous city and unique street circuit, and has become a cultural symbol of the F1 race. During the event, some rooms at the Fairmont Monte Carlo Hotel offer unparalleled views. (Therefore, a minimum of 5 nights stay is required, and the price is not cheap.)
The hotel location is quite good, on the 7th floor you can go out to Monaco's opera house, Cafe de Paris is under renovation, and it is not far from several shopping malls.
The hotel is undergoing renovations on different floors, and the 5th floor rooms facing the race track have already been renovated. The two rooms use a refreshing white as the main color, which is very comfortable. I personally like it.
However, if you're here to play, I would recommend the view facing the bay. It feels like being on a cruise ship, and the view from the breakfast restaurant on the seventh floor is also great. Next to the breakfast restaurant is the swimming pool, which is perfect for swimming and having breakfast in the morning.
If there is anything not good enough to mention, it would be that the corridors are not bright enough and the lobby has a relatively old design.

‘Plage du Larvotto’, a beach in Monaco, the second smallest country in the world🇲🇨
#EuropeanTravel
While staying in Nice, I visited Monaco, the second smallest country in the world, 20 minutes away by train! There is no immigration process when going from France to Monaco, but the problem is that data may not work depending on the SIM card..
I walked around a lot because my data started to work and I couldn't find traffic information, but the country is so small that it was nice to walk around quietly while sightseeing.ㅎ
The first thing I wanted to do was go to the beach, so I walked from the station, but they stopped in the middle and asked if I could see other things. It took about an hour and a half..ㅎㅎ
I went because it seemed to be the most famous beach, but it was smaller than I thought, so it was actually nice.
I sat at a cafe right in front of the beach, drank a cocktail, and dazed myself for a while before taking a walk along the beach.. The rocks were so sharp that my feet hurtㅜㅜㅜ
However, it was a pretty beach with a different feel from Nice, and there were many pretty cafes in front, so I think it's one of the tourist attractions you must visit when you go to Monaco><
