ancient horse road in Puer
The Tea and Horse Road of Southwest China, aka the " Silk Road of Southwest China" – but called Chamagudao in Chinese (cha-ma-gu-dao = Tea-Horse-Ancient-Road) – is an old trade route that stretched east to west and south to north across southwest China. This ancient trade routes eventually came to be renowned for the two main commodities for which the routes were named: tea and horses, though there were other important commodities such as sugar and salt – but curiously, not silk – that were traded along these routes. Our own Tea Horse Road adventure began in the township of Pu'er, approximately 400 kilometers south of Kunming. The excursion passed through some of the mountains and steep valleys that are signatures of the Yunnan landscape. Eventually, the corn and wheat along the roadside gave way to bananas, rubber and, eventually, tea.
Origins of tea....🍵
Obviously, Pu'er is known for its famous tea and the tea-growing areas around it. Therefore, any visit to the city wouldn't be complete without a stop here at the Pu'er Tea Museum. We wanted to learn more about this important commodity, so this museum provided us with the answers. We learned about the various local ethnic groups and their relationships with tea, the history of the local area and the Tea Horse Road and also about the process of making the teas. We went here in the morning and admission was free. The staff were also very nice and polite. Getting here is easy by taxi or private car, although it was basically next to our hotel anyway. It's definitely best to come here and learn about the history before visiting a plantation or the Tea Horse Road, as it definitely adds a perspective on everything and enbables you to better understand everything. A good little gem to visit! 🍵🍵😋

Exploring Pu'er...🤗
The ancient town at Tea Horse Road is relatively easy to get to by taxi or private car, as Pu'er is a small place and this is easy to find. Arriving here, we took a nice stroll along the canal and through the scenic old town area, stopping for iced coffee and lunch also. Prices are not expensive here, even though this is considered a tourist site. The buildings were great to look at, as well as the old ancient walls that are built around the old town. We came just before Chinese New Year, therefore the place wasn't that busy, especially in the afternoon we visited. If you are in Pu'er, then it's definitely a place to visit along with the tea museum and seeing a plantation. You should go to the tea museum first and learn about the history of this place before visiting, as it enables you to appreciate the historical perspective of this place. 🍵👘😋

2 days in puer!
Getting There - after going to xishuangbanna, we took the high speed train which took 20minutes to puer. the trains run all day at intervals of 20-40minutes.
Attractions - The biggest tourist attraction in Puer is tea! as you come into the city, you’ll see that the landscape is filled with rolling hills all filled with tea trees. when in puer, highly recommended to visit a tea plantation where you can learn, pick and make your own tea. Specifically the puer expo garden centre. on the second day we went to the horse road which is 10 mins away from city centre. before going into the ancient road entrance, you’ll pass by charma ancient town which is a cute town filled with trinkets you can buy. the horse road is a beautiful mountain where you can see a nice view of the city and learn about the tea trade routes people used to make.
Hotels -
Food & Restaurants - lots of dai/thai influenced food. highly recommend mushroom hot pot! variety of mushroom put in one steaming pot. delicious!

Land of the most prestigious tea🍃
Getting There - Didi or rental car to the Pu’Er tea plantation.
Attractions - Visit the Pu’Er tea museum and learn not only the history, but also taste delicious tea.
Hotels - You can book a hotel in Pu’Er city.
Food & Restaurants - the city has plenty of options to feast on! Also, don’t forget the coffee shops as not only here is the land of tea, but also coffee! ☕️
Shopping - I stacked on plenty of Pu’Er tea and local Yunnan coffee beans to take home as my main souvenir. You can find the tea everywhere, as well as going to independent local coffee shops to buy the coffee beans if you are both a coffee and a tea lover like myself!

This trip to Yunnan, I want to go to the Ximeng Yi Autonomous County of Pu'er to explore the wonderful culture of the Yi people. It is said that this is also a nation that directly transitions from the primitive society to the modern civilization. I lived in Xikang Yunshe, although it is next to the Longtan Lake, but it is so beautiful, as if it is in the mountains, in the clouds.
I believe that no matter who comes here and lives here, there will be a kind of dreams and dreams. Simple people, gorgeous Yi culture, original ecological atmosphere, healthy living environment.
The morning is different every day, or the clouds are haunting or smoky. This is an autonomous county of the Yi people, a nation that directly transitions from the primitive society to a modern society.
Menglian County is a Yi Autonomous County of Dai and Dai. Menglian is a homonym of proverbs, meaning a good place to find. There is a reputation of Emeralds in the Border and Hometown of Dragon Blood Trees. As a Chinese historical and cultural town, Nayun Ancient Town is the most complete ancient historical and cultural city in China. She is the most authentic special testimony to the world's long-established and dying Chinese Tusi toast culture.
Nayun's cultural heritage is complete and the cultural context is clear. It is an outstanding representative of the Dai architectural culture. Its special geographical features show the world the true history and culture of the Nayun Dai community for nearly 700 years. Qualifications of World Cultural Heritage.
Walking Nayun Ancient Town can see many Yi architectures. Here is a small town where Buddhism prevails. Almost every household has a statue of Buddha. The ethnic atmosphere here is strong, and the women I met on the road are wearing the Yi nationality's tube skirt, and the waist is very beautiful.
The most attractive of Pu'er Sun River National Forest Park is the Jungle's wooden house Xianju - Pu'er Little Panda Manor Forest Hotel!
78 forest huts are scattered in the forest, completely built with old ship wood, even the fans are wooden, the villas are large, the rooms are diverse, there are standard rooms, standard suites, standard family suites; Transparent glass view room: hexagonal room, hexagonal single room, hexagonal suite and so on. Feel especially suitable for family and family travel!
Look at the best view of the forest villa - 360 degree full transparent forest view! You can take a bath and look at the rhythm of the little panda!
The hotel's service is also in place. The hotel lady not only puts the local wild chestnut, but also considers the heavy moisture in the mountain. The electric blanket is baked in advance and the quilt is baked.
Tips:
Playing: The Forest Hotel is not far from the Rhinoceros Scenic Area. There are battery cars connected. There are rhinoceros, macaques, pandas in the scenic spot, and Lightning in the Crazy Animal City. Bee monkey.
Transportation: You can fly to Pu'ermao Airport by going all over the country. There are shuttle buses from the airport to the Little Panda Manor. The journey takes about 1 hour.
My Yunnan (28)
My Yunnan (28)
Lying on the balcony of Nanling Inn, after a seven-hour hike along the Ancient Tea Horse Road, I returned to the inn and drank the coffee given to me by the innkeeper. The coffee drove away my fatigue, and I soaked my body in the warm water of the bathtub. At that moment, I was riding a tea horse and galloping for thousands of miles.
Sitting under the warm sun,
Tasting the aroma of Pu'er tea,
Looking up at the white clouds and blue sky.
Accompanied by coffee in the moonlight,
Poetry and songs are full of splendor.
Drunk and dazed,
A gentle breeze blows on my face,
Don't ask about the road ahead,
The return journey is not expected.
Lying drunk on tea and dreaming,
Ancient Tea Horse Road, bonfire, and fireflies,
The sound of the flute and the stream,
Dreaming of Yunnan.

Pu'er Tea Horse Road
The Tea Horse Road is a passage full of historical charm and cultural heritage. Since the Tang Dynasty, in order to meet the needs of the local people, this road has carried the trade of tea and horses, witnessing the economic and cultural exchanges between southwest and northwest China. The Tea Horse Road is mainly divided into three main roads: the Sichuan-Tibet Road, the Yunnan-Tibet Road, and the Qinghai-Tibet Road (Gansu-Qinghai Road).

Dai Family Lane Ancient Buildings in Pu'er
The ancient buildings in Dai Family Lane are not only the center of commercial activities, but also witness the changes and development of Simao over hundreds of years. It was once a major town where merchants gathered, exporting tea, cloth, salt, and other goods, and importing medicinal materials, kerosene, indigo, matches, and other goods. The existing buildings are mostly shops and residences, and the overall layout retains the original style, and there are still people living here.
Visitors can feel the historical and cultural heritage here.
This is the only guide you need for a niche trip to Yunnan!

Follow the Running Man to this mountainside hotel in Yunnan and cure your mental fatigue
Is there anyone else who loves watching variety shows as much as I do? 😍 Recently, I've been obsessed with Running Man - Tea Horse Road. The camp they stayed at when they arrived in Yunnan was so beautiful and comfortable. My bestie and I followed in their footsteps to this mountainside hotel.
The Pu'er Yixiang Mountain Camp and Mountainside Hotel is located in a beautiful tea mountain. It is located on Sijiang Road, Simao District, Pu'er City, about 19 km from Simao Airport, with convenient transportation 🚗. The main attractions here include Jingmai Mountain, the China Pu'er Tea Expo Garden, and more, all of which are must-see places.
Here, the sea of clouds surges and the tea gardens stretch on, allowing you to feel the charm of nature. There are sunsets with afterglow, sunrises with a sea of clouds, and starry skies at night, a rare quiet life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Experience the mountainside hotel hidden in the tea mountains and clouds, and come with family and friends to see the vast tea mountains, watch the sunrise, and listen to the forest swaying, which is very pleasant.
The hotel has a variety of room options, including cabins, tents, RVs, and 8 stargazing campsites. Each room is equipped with a smart home system, complete facilities, soft and comfortable beds, and spacious and bright rooms. The view from the room's balcony is irresistible, and every room has a super beautiful view of the sea of clouds and sunrise!

The lively design style creates an immersive ocean experience, and every corner is delightful.
Winter at Pu'er Sun River | Feel the Winter Charm of the Forest
| Feel the Winter Charm of the Forest.
Pu'er Red Panda Manor 🏡 is quietly nestled in the lush greenery 🌳 like a fairy tale forest cabin 💕
Walk forward, and you will feel like you have met Totoro from Hayao Miyazaki's works.
Even in winter, the greenery 🌲 here is still vibrant, and the chubby sunlight ☀ squeezes through the trees and generously sprinkles down. Standing by the roadside, time seems to stand still, allowing you to forget all your worries.
👉 The cyathea trees are lush and green all year round 🌿, but the sunlight in different seasons gives them different colors, which may be the secret to their longevity.
😌 The leaves of the sour jujube trees have long fallen, becoming toys for the raccoons 🦝. In a trance, the branches of the sour jujube trees 🫧 seem like the veins of the sky, shedding their splendor and revealing their true colors.
🌸 The pear trees are not "lucky" either. 🪷 When the flowers bloom, there are dozens of recipes waiting to use their flowers as ingredients. The red pandas and 🐻 black bears will not miss their fruits and always climb to the highest branches to feast. The pear trees just look at the little animals picking their fruits indulgently, holding on to their own character, storing greenery, and waiting to bloom again in the spring.
💕 Winter has its own purpose, painting Sun River with different colors. Remember to look up, and the trees will give everyone who looks up a warm hug.

Travel to Pu'er Mountain Top Hotel to watch the sunrise over the sea of clouds and the tea fields above the clouds.
Pu'er Yixiang Mountain Camp and Mid-Levels Hotel
😉 Traveling to Yunnan, I stayed at a super treasure hotel in Pu'er. The tents, wooden houses, and RVs were all built on the top of the mountain. In the morning, I could watch the sunrise over the sea of clouds, and during the day, I strolled around thousands of acres of tea fields and watched the stars at night. It was simply a magical holiday~[Chin][Chin]
🏨Puer Yixiang Mountain Camp and Mid-Levels Hotel
📍: It is 25 minutes away from Pu'er City/Simao Airport. If you drive by yourself, you have to park in the hotel parking lot halfway up the mountain and then take a battery car up the mountain.
💸: 300-800 yuan per capita
🌱Environment:
🧚♀️ It is worthy of the name "Tea Field on the Clouds". The ten thousand acres of tea garden are very Pu'er, which is even more beautiful during the tea picking season. With the dense vegetation, negative oxygen ions are high
All rooms are surrounded by tea gardens. You can enjoy the tea gardens without leaving home🧚♀️Watch the starry sky and sunrise. If you are lucky, you will also see the shocking sea of clouds. During the few days I stayed, I encountered the sea of clouds on the first day and watched the sunrise on the second day. Perfect~
🏡Room type:
✨RV: The most popular, with various models, giving the feeling of outdoor outings
🏡Wooden house: The room type I stayed in has a smart home indoors and an unrivaled view from the outdoor balcony. It’s beautiful to watch the starry sky/sunrise/sea of clouds.
💎Tent: It is higher than the wooden house and can see farther. But I personally think the wooden house has a better view. It also has a large outdoor balcony.
🏡Duplex wooden house: The loft is suitable for multiple people to live together, and the sunken living room is particularly designed.
✨Package:
🔥UTV: Three routes with different difficulties, respectively
298/498/798 yuan, passing through tea fields, villages, waterfalls and tropical rainforest along the way, the excitement level is incredible
⭕Ceramic Art Bar: Experience intangible cultural heritage pottery, suitable for parents and children, young ladies
The teacher is very patient, 68 yuan
👉Pu'er Teahouse: The quiet and Zen teahouse is very comfortable, and hotel guests enjoy free tea.
👉The restaurant has a variety of local dishes (it’s best to make a reservation in advance), and the outdoor terrace of the cafe overlooks the mountains.
Puer - Jingmai Mountain.
Jingmai Mountain, a borderland secret place listed as a World Heritage Site! If you are used to the hustle and bustle of the city and want to find a place with fewer people to experience local customs and have a slow-paced trip, you must not miss this place!
Next, I will share my experience of traveling to Jingmai Mountain. We first landed in Xishuangbanna, stayed there for one night, and went to a famous local night market! It is full of Dai-style food, and I personally recommend the Dai-style hand-grabbed rice that children love! Various colorful glutinous rice and snacks are delicious and beautiful. After dinner, we also took a set of special Dai-style photos, which were really beautiful!
Then we went from Xishuangbanna to Puer and went to the panda manor that the children had been thinking about. My baby and the panda had a great time in the manor. In the evening, we also participated in the manor night tour. Under the guidance of the tour guide, we explained the knowledge of animals and plants to the children in a vivid and interesting way, and even we "big children" learned a lot!
On the morning of the third day when we went to Jingmai Mountain, we were lucky enough to catch the beautiful sunrise and sea of clouds at the Golden Pagoda of Jingmai Mountain! There was no obstruction around, and in front of us was the golden sea of clouds and sunrise within reach! The residents of the ancient village were very enthusiastic. You could see tea everywhere when you walked into any house. The villagers would also enthusiastically ask you to drink a cup of hot tea, and chat with the locals to keep warm. It felt like the fatigue of going to work and taking care of the children was all gone!
Day 1. From all over the country to Xishuangbanna
Day 2. Banna - Coffee Manor - Sun River Forest Park
Day 3. Jingmai Mountain - Dapingzhang Ancient Tea Forest - Wengji Ancient Village
Day 4. Nuogan Ancient Village - King Bee Tree - Intangible Cultural Heritage Roasted Tea Experience
Day 5. Sunrise and sea of clouds - Single Tree Forest - Nannuo Mountain - Jinghong
Day 6. Drop off according to the flight - Return
About Puer's food
Puer's local food is mostly based on the flavors of the Dai and Brown ethnic groups. The Dai ethnic group prefers sour and spicy flavors, while the Brown ethnic group prefers spicy flavors. Friends who like spicy food must not miss it! They are basically local home-cooked dishes, and you can taste the special ethnic minority food!
