🇹🇭 Floating market Damnoen Saduak
One of the floating markets in Bangkok is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I used a private driver for this day trip because I needed to drive more than an hour to reach this floating market. Back in the days in Thailand, floating markets were common for daily activities and also known as “Venice of the East”. It is important to keep your belongings waterproof to prevent any accidents. Also, try to have some small notes ready to pay the vendors. I will suggest you have a friend with you so that you can concentrate on taking photos while your friend does the buying and paying the vendors.

The JEATH War Museum
My last trip to Kanchanaburi was a long time ago. This trip to Bangkok, I had some extra time and I signed up for a day tour to revisit Kanchanaburi. When you are here at Kanchanaburi, you will learn about their history and the best way is to visit the JEATH Museum. There is another name for Kanchanaburi and it is called The Death Railway. JEATH is the abbreviation for the countries involved. I will let you discover it for yourself. I will also warn you on the ticket prices. No, they are not expensive. They just have 2 pricing systems which are local pricing and foreigner pricing. So there is no need to kick up a fuss when you think you have been shortchanged.

🇹🇭 Amari Watergate Spa
This is the Breeze spa inside Amari Watergate and it opens from 10am to 8pm. You can walk in to get a pampering session but I will suggest you make a reservation. If not, then you can try out Let’s Relax, they have many branches and within Pratunam, there are a few branches. The prices at Breeze are slightly higher than Let’s Relax but you do not need to leave Amari Watergate to go to the spa. It is also more personalised as they cater their spa sessions to your mood. This translates to filling up a questionnaire and the therapist will recommend you the most suitable spa session.

🇹🇭 Amari Watergate FIT centre
Yes, gym time is somewhat important when you are in Bangkok. You need to contain more food in your stomach. So going to the gym to lose off the excess load and also can improve your appetite. You can also go for a squash game or yoga session at Amari Watergate. There are also saunas and steam rooms in the toilets so you can have a mini-spa session after your workout. Else, you can always visit the hotel’s spa, Breeze. All the facilities (swimming pool, gym, spa) are on level 8. So if you want to eat more then you need to work it out.

🇹🇭 Amari Watergate swimming pool
It is true my travelling pattern has changed after the pandemic. I will try out hotels which I know but have never stayed at before. My first time at Amari Watergate and they have renovated some of their rooms during the pandemic. There is an outdoor swimming pool at Amari Watergate and it is lovely as it is free form with a surrounding garden. Somehow, this pool reminds me of the free form swimming pool in Hard Rock Hotel Penang. You cannot imagine that you are here when you know that you are staying in a hotel right in the middle of crowded Pratunam. If you can get a room for less than $90, I think it is worth a try.

🇹🇭 Maeklong Station market
After the Floating market Damnoen Saduak, I got my private driver to go to Maeklong Station market. This is the infamous market whereby the vendors have to keep their stores to let the train pass through. Yuu will be thrilled if you are here for the first time. As always, be careful and be alert of your surroundings and watch out for traffic. My driver is the nicest person and he even suggested that I take the train for 1 station and he will wait at the next station to pick me up. If you have time then you can hire a driver or join a day tour to visit this unique market for your memories.

🇹🇭 🛍 Love Bangkok shopping
Another popular shopping centre in Thailand, the CentralwOrld. You can access via the skywalk and continue walking towards Siam Paragon too. There are always many acvitives ongoing here. You can also see fireworks too during their NYE countdown. There is a hotel right above CentralwOrld but it can be expensive. However, there is no need to worry because Pratunam area is a place with many hotel options. Opposite to CentralwOrld, you can find police station and hospital, along with the famous Erawan Shrine. With such a good location and transportation connection, you can understand why it is such a prosperous place.

🇹🇭 🍽 Nara Thai
A super amazing thai food restaurant in Bangkok. They used to have outlets in Singapore in the past. In any case, it is cheaper to eat in Bangkok. I will always go for their drinks and each drink is concoct beautifully. I had the One Siam gift cards bought on Trip.com and I used it at Nara Thai for lunch. I ordered their famous crab and prawns and a hand glove was provided. I also like to have my dishes with butterfly pea as it has a beautiful blue-purple color. My lunch was very full-filling.

🇹🇭 Thonglor Marketplace
If you are in Thong Lor and looking for Big C Supermarket, you will be able to find it and also Don Don Donki Thong Lor and Marketplace too. Try out a new place and you might find something new too. The Marketplace at Thong Lor is within walking distance (5 minutes) from Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55. So i went there to buy my “souvenirs” to bring back to Singapore. Things I buy are toothpastes and toothbrushes because it is a lot cheaper, especially for the children. I also will buy and try out new snacks. Sometimes, I will buy some thai food paste too to cook at home.

🇹🇭 Next station Thonglor BTS
To get to Thonglor is easier by BTS, take the BTS and you will be at Thong Lor for your food escapades very quickly. Using Thong Lor BTS as your bearing, you can locate your next F&B place easily. If you are staying at Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55, then you can wait here for the tuktuk pick up which comes every 10 minutes or so. There are many restaurants here and you also can get fresh sashimi air flown from overseas fish markets. The latest trendy rooftop bar “Tichuca Rooftop Bar” is also in Thong Lor. So why not consider Thong Lor as your next hunt when you are in Bangkok.

🇹🇭 Thong Lor F&B
I was walking to my dinner place and chanced upon this unique chicken rice store at Thong Lor. The name of this shop is Boon Tong Kiat Singapore Chicken Rice and it has Singapore flag as part of their signboard. They sell Hainanese chicken rice and also Bak Kut Teh. I looked around and found some great reviews. I did not managed to eat it but I am pretty sure I will be eating it real soon. Along the same street, there are also plenty of eateries and I also chanced upon this Wine Connection There are really many nice places in Thong Lor and I have been here more times than in Pratunam.

🇹🇭 Sook Siam toilets arts
At Sook Siam, you can get all delicious street food in clean and air-conditioned environment. Naturally, you will wish for a clean toilet. When you are at Iconsiam, the toilets are your least concern because the toilets are clean and there are always toilet attendants around. The toilet theme at Sook Siam is about water barrels and so you have a barrel as your water basin to wash hands. All the walls are also decorated and there are tester products in the toilets as well. The retail shops will place their items in the toilet for you to test. This is also a good way of advertising and if you like it, you can visit their retail shop and buy it.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam toilets arts
Believe me you :) The toilets in Thailand shopping centres are life changing, at least for Iconsiam and Terminal 21. Each toilet on each level are unique. They have their own design themes. At Iconsiam, their designs sometimes are not functional. The water basin design is super unique. However, the water basin is so flat and only your palm can fit under the water tap. Probably, the designer want to prevent people from using a bucket to steal the water. Jokes aside, I am the one who will visit all their toilets to check out their different themes.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam arts decoration
Iconsiam always full of impressive arts, from outside to inside and even their toilets. I still have no idea how they maintain this shopping centre during pandemic. But I guess it is to our advantage and we can always visit Iconsiam. Even if you do not spend any money, you still can visit this shopping centre and enjoy the facilities. It is also a good place to find inspiration for your next art idea. At Iconsiam, they also have a few centrepieces worth hunting for, “Haberdashery’s light sculpture” and “Joy Chandelier”. In fact, most of their arts inspiration are from their religious beliefs and and idol worship. With the combination of arts, it has transferred into a different perspective.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam Peppa Pig Picnic Fun
This is a pop-up indoor playground and you can get discounted tickets on Trip.com
It is located at Iconsiam, 6th floor and it had just ended. Hopefully, it will reopen at Iconsiam or other shopping malls soon. This indoor playground are catered to Peppa Pig’s fans and there are many opportunities for photos too. The entry into the playground are by timing and you can choose your preferred timing. This pop-up playground is not crowded so it is better for us. There are also many sitting areas available for indoor picnic, just like the Peppa Pig’s family.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam Icon Cineconic
I love watching movies in nice theatre and the Icon Cineconic suits me. They also have theatre for children too. In the theatre, they have slides and ball pit for the children. In most theatre, you will have diffulties finding a chair. This is because most of the theatre, they have sofa seats or beds for you to watch your movies. In the children theatre, the lights are not very dark and also the volume will be softer so both parents and children can be together to watch a movie together. I did not get a ticket for the children theatre because of the movie showtime. I will try it out next time.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam kiddy rides
Parents with children also can explore their indoor arcade areas in Iconsiam too. There are many kiddy rides available for play as well. These kiddy rides are all over the leisure zones and you can reward the children with some rides. It is difficult to travel with the seniors and juniors, especially overseas. So it is crucial to find a common place to cater to different needs. I feel Iconsiam fit this criteria for everyone. There are no hotels above Iconsiam but there are several hotels nearby Iconsiam. Some hotel provides free boat transport to Iconsiam. I will suggest Millennium Hilton Bangkok to you since it is only a short walk over and there is no need to wait for boat rides. Else, The Peninsula Bangkok which provides free tuktuk ride to Iconsiam too.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam playground
The children love it here at Iconsiam, you can sign them up for the free play or pay for their tickets to enter the indoor playground. This section at Iconsiam is under their lifestyle category for families and children. Besides playground, they also have many types of enrichment classes for the children. Be sure to also checkout Harbourland, an indoor playground in Thailand and they open a mega harbourland in Iconsiam 6th floor. You can buy tickets for 2 hours per play. You can save on tiket prices by asking the Grandparents to bring the children in. This is because for senior citizens above 60 years old are free entry with an accompanying children. By the way, babies are allowed too and they also provide “Happy Care” services, which is baby sitting.

🇹🇭 🥭 Mango of Yenly Yours
Their mango designs attract me and they are also available in Singapore, at Suntec City and AMK Hub. This Mango of Yenly Yours is Thailand No.1 Mango cafe, specialise in everything mango. They also have many outlets in Bangkok, not in other provinces yet. It is fascinating to try out so many types of mango desserts variant. I only can blame myself for not being able to try them out. Besides having mango on their menu, they also have strawberry and coconut plus other tea variants. They are somewhat similar to the Hongkong mango cafe Hui Lau Shan too.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam Hermes
If you are coming by the Iconsiam shuttle boat option, you will definitely see Hermes boutique along the Chao Phraya river. It has an all-glass facade and in the day it will be glistering brightly under the sunlight. When the night comes, it will be brightly illuminated with all the lights. Not far from it, you can also see Millennium Hilton Bangkok, which I stayed back in May. However, there are no private direct access from Millennium Hilton Bangkok to Iconsiam. You still will have to walk from the public access route. It is great to check out the luxury boutique desgins.

🇹🇭 Iconlux restaurants
This is an upscale place at Iconlux, the luxury building at Iconsiam. You will get luxury brands boutique and many “worth to try out” restaurants at The Veranda such as Pang Cha by Lukkaithong and recommended by Michelin guide for their shaved ice desserts. Plus, this Nuerkoo beef noodles for their premium beef noodles. In fact, you can get all the delicious food at The Veranda and you can never finish eating them in a day. Also, the entire building is designed to look like magical forest. Even if you nevr dine here, you are allowed to be here. Then you can go to Sook Siam for cheaper food alternatives.

🇹🇭 Iconsiam Takashimaya shopping
A super attractive shopping mall in this district, Iconsiam and they have anchor tenant such as Takashimaya here. I like their Takashimaya and you can use tourist discounts too. They always have toys sales and it is much cheaper than buying elsewhere. Plus, I am guaranteed of good quality items when I shop here. If not, I can always get a refund. At their basements, which is same like every Takashimaya in the world, they have many food options. You can get both imported and local food products, including air-flown fresh produce. Plus, there is also an omakase shop too. Next time, I will give it a try.

🇹🇭 BKK Naraya
Naraya is the “IT” bag for many tourists in Thailand, including me because I have a shopping list from my friends. I told them what I saw when I was back in Bangkok. Nobody buy Naraya anymore because there are no more tourists. No doubt, Naraya has more designs now but their prices have also increase. I do not see any value in getting Naraya because there are many similar designs in Thailand too. However, with that said, Naraya has the easiest selection because you can get the same designs in many colors. These are great for souvenir gifts too.

🇹🇭 GCP Sukhumvit 55 Recreation
There are many Grand Centre Point hotel branches in Thailand and all of their hotels are suitable for families with their spacious rooms and recreation facilities. There are always a swimming pool and kids recreation clubs within the hotels. Plus, they will have sauna and jacuzzi facilities at their swimming pool level too. So you can enjoy the facilities and recreation at the hotel when you stay here. At this Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55 branch, there is also additional spa facilities by their external vendor, Let’s Relax. It is definitely worth your time to check this hotel out.

Harbin Snow & Ice Festival
As I am writing this trip moment, I can feel the -20 degrees celsius on me. I flew directly from Singapore to Harbin before the pandemic. I am glad that I live my dream and take that trip. Now I want to revisit Harbin also difficult because of the restrictions.
The snow and ice festival playground was the highlight for me. I went twice and I took the local tour signed up directly from the hotel I was staying. It was (by then) known as Ibis Hotel at Sophia Church. I had a lot of time and it was winter, it is better to cater a lot of time to travel.
By 4/5pm, the sky was dark and it was best to arrive at the festival playground before dark. Then you can admire the ice sculptures under the sun and the illumination at night.
Be very mindful of slippery grounds and get a good pair of shoes with high traction.

Maldives local island Hulhlumale hotels
When you are at Maldives and going to fly to your resort, you will face time restrictions. So you might have to stay nearby the airport to take the seaplane or domestic flight.
One of the easiest option is to stay in a hotel at Hulhlumale island, connected to the main airport by a short drive 5-10 minutes. You can consider staying over the Male island too, now also accessible by cars. I will introduce the type of motels I stayed on Hulhlumale. It can be as cheap as $60-70 and the taxi ride is about 15-20 usd. If you have time, you can take the public bus too. They are using our SMRT type of buses. You will definitely feel at home.

Citysquare JB Gamegol
This is their first overseas branch and it is right here at Citysquare JB, at innercity area. They are famous for their dumplings and you can even buy them frozen too. I will call them “pau” instead of dumplings because it is quite huge and you can choose your fillings, pork or kimchi. I’ll suggest you buy single “pau” instead of the 10 for 49 ringgit. This is because you may not be able to finish eating. They also sell fried dumplings, noodles and rice cakes too. There are tables for you to dine in restaurant too.

Citysquare JB Innercity
This is a shopping area inside Citysquare JB, Innercity. It has two levels and mainly caters for the younger customers. However, after the pandemic, most of the stalls have moved out. There are only a handful of tattoo shops and restaurants remaining. But this innercity is still looking artistic with all their artwork done by local artists. You can easily roam around here and take as many photos like me. There are a few Korean restaurants in this area too. I will show you later in my next trip moment.

Citysquare JB Retro games
An event on ground level of fun for everyone to get in touch with retro 90s games such as giant fishing machine, spinning top stool, video games, hopscotch and Tetris. To qualify for free play, you can show your receipts at any Citysquare to qualify. Some of the games are free and you can play as many as you wish. There are also many backdrops to take instagrammable photos too. You are able to redeem for a tamagotchi game if you spend until 300 ringgit.
Last week when I went to Citysquare, this retro 90s games event has ended and replaced by Mooncake Festival.
