London is a must!
Okay so who hasn’t been to London? For many people it’s at the top of their travel list but there’s always so much more to see and do! I travel to London pretty often and even lived there for awhile. London really is a place where ancient history meets the modern world. Catch a show on the West End, visit Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, and of course Big Ben and the houses of Parliament but also take time to visit other amazing areas such as Greenwich and the East End, and don’t forget to visit at least one of London’s amazing markets. I can’t wait to visit London again soon.

Buckingham Palace Royal guards 🏰
#buckinghampalace
Watching the Royal Guards at Buckingham Palace was one of the highlights of my trip to London! 🇬🇧 The iconic sight of the guards in their bright red uniforms and tall bearskin hats is even more impressive in person. I got there early to grab a good spot near the gates, and it was totally worth it. The Changing of the Guard ceremony started around 11:00 am, and the whole thing was such a spectacle – the precision of their movements, the sound of the marching band playing traditional British tunes, and the overall pageantry. 🎺
The ceremony lasts about 45 minutes, and I was amazed at the level of discipline and tradition on display. It’s fascinating to think about the history behind these guards, who’ve been protecting the palace for hundreds of years. Best of all, watching the guards is completely free! 🤑 After the ceremony, I spent some time wandering around the Victoria Memorial and taking photos of the palace’s stunning architecture.
If you’re planning a visit, make sure to check the schedule because the Changing of the Guard doesn’t happen every day. 📅 Afterwards, I strolled through nearby St. James's Park, which offers a lovely place to relax and enjoy some nature. For more royal sights, the Queen’s Gallery is right next to the palace and showcases some of the royal art collection. Seeing the Royal Guards in action was such a unique experience, making me feel like I was part of a living history! #trip #ChangingOfTheGuard #RoyalGuards #LondonExperience #BritishTradition #MustSeeInLondon

Visiting Buckingham Palace was an unforgettable experience! 🏰 Located in the heart of London, this iconic royal residence is even more magnificent in person than it appears in pictures. The entrance fee for the State Rooms was £30, but it's worth every penny to see the opulence and grandeur inside. Walking through rooms like the Throne Room and the White Drawing Room, I was in awe of the intricate details, from the lavish chandeliers to the priceless artworks on the walls. 🎨👑
One of the highlights was witnessing the Changing of the Guard ceremony. It's a must-see! Arrive early to get a good spot because it can get pretty crowded. The sight of the guards in their traditional red tunics and bearskin hats marching to the sound of military music was thrilling. 🎶🫡 After the palace tour, I strolled through the nearby St. James's Park, enjoying its lush greenery and serene lake, perfect for a picnic or just relaxing. 🌳🦆
Don’t miss visiting the Royal Mews, where you can see the exquisite royal carriages, or the Queen’s Gallery, which houses a stunning collection of art from the Royal Collection. 📸 Buckingham Palace isn't just a tourist attraction—it's a glimpse into the British monarchy's history and traditions. This visit is definitely a highlight of my London trip! #trip #BuckinghamPalace #RoyalLondon #ChangingOfTheGuard #LondonSights #BritishMonarchy

During my summer vacation in London, I had the chance to explore The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, and it was an unforgettable experience. Located within the palace, the gallery is part of the State Rooms tour, which costs around £30 (about $38) and gives you access to some of the most magnificent spaces in the palace.
The King’s Gallery, in particular, is stunning. The room is long and grand, with rich red walls adorned with an incredible collection of paintings by some of the most renowned artists in history. The high ceiling and the lavish decorations create an atmosphere that feels both regal and intimate. I was particularly struck by the portraits of past monarchs, which give a real sense of the continuity and tradition that the British monarchy represents.
The gallery also offers a fantastic view of the gardens, which you can enjoy through the large windows that line one side of the room. The natural light pouring in highlights the intricate details of the room’s décor, from the gold accents to the fine woodwork. It’s easy to see why this space was a favorite of King George IV.
After visiting The King’s Gallery, I spent some time wandering around the other State Rooms, each one as impressive as the last. Outside the palace, I walked over to the nearby Victoria Memorial and then took a relaxing stroll through St. James's Park, which is just a short walk away. The whole experience was a deep dive into British history and culture, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting London. 🎨👑 #trip #KingsGallery #BuckinghamPalace #RoyalArt #LondonMuseums #CulturalHeritage

Marvel at the Majesty: Buckingham Palace's Grand Exterior
#europetrip
Buckingham Palace, the iconic residence of the British monarchy, stands as one of London's most famous landmarks. While the palace's interior remains a mystery to many who visit only its exterior, the striking façade and the ceremonial Changing of the Guard offer a rich taste of Britain's regal elegance and tradition.
Architectural Splendor
The palace's impressive neoclassical design, primarily crafted by architect John Nash, captivates onlookers with its symmetrical grandeur and the famous balcony where the royal family appears during significant events. The exterior, with its ornate gates, detailed stonework, and majestic columns, reflects centuries of architectural evolution and royal history.
Changing of the Guard
A highlight for visitors viewing Buckingham Palace from outside is the Changing of the Guard. This quintessentially British ceremony involves a fascinating display of precision marching and musical performances by the guards, dressed in their iconic red tunics and bearskin hats. Occurring in the forecourt, this ceremony provides a spectacle of royal tradition and is a must-see for first-time visitors.
Photographic Opportunities
The area around Buckingham Palace, including the Victoria Memorial and the vast, sweeping Mall leading up to the palace, offers numerous photographic opportunities. Visitors can capture the essence of British pomp from various angles, whether it’s the expansive view from the gardens or close-ups of the palace’s grand exterior.
Visitor Tips
- Best Viewing Spots: For an unobstructed view of the palace and the Changing of the Guard, arrive early to secure a spot near the front gates or along the Mall.
- Timing: The Changing of the Guard typically happens in the morning but check the official schedule as times can vary.
- Respect the Rules: While the exterior is open for viewing and photography, drones are not permitted, and it’s important to be mindful of security measures in place around the palace area.

There are lots of free, fun things to do with kids whilst in London.
St James Park is a must. Amazing, friendly wildlife like squirrels, pelicans and geese and gorgeous views of Buckingham Palace. Love the park. A lot of parks in central London have sand for digging. Our favourite is near the London Zoo.
The London Eye lights up rainbow at night. The best place for photos is on the other side of the Thames.
The Natural History and Science museums are free and full of interactive exhibits.

Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom. On the outside, it doesn’t look that spectacular but certainly it’s worth a visit.
The Palace is located in the City of Westminster (close to Victoria Station), and is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality.
If you time it well, you can even see the change of the guard at Buckingham Palace and add something special to your day. We were hoping on a few occasions to see the Queen but unfortunately this didn’t happen haha ( 😉 ).
