Top of Europe 🗺️
#myhiddengems
Visiting Jungfraujoch, the “Top of Europe,” was an absolute highlight of my trip to Switzerland! 🏔️🚞 Located high up in the Swiss Alps, reaching this stunning spot was an adventure in itself. I took the scenic train ride from Interlaken, which cost around 210 CHF, but the breathtaking views along the way made it worth every cent. As we climbed higher, the landscape transformed from lush green meadows to snow-covered peaks. Stepping out at 3,454 meters above sea level was like entering a winter wonderland! ❄️🌨️
The Ice Palace was my first stop, where I walked through tunnels carved entirely out of ice, featuring beautiful ice sculptures that shimmered under the lights. Then I made my way to the Sphinx Observatory. The panoramic views from there were absolutely mind-blowing—you could see Aletsch Glacier stretching far into the distance and the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. 🌄🗻 It felt like being on top of the world! And don’t forget to visit the “Alpine Sensation” exhibit; it gives a fascinating insight into the history of the Jungfrau Railway and the construction of this high-altitude marvel.
Afterward, I grabbed lunch at the restaurant on-site, enjoying a hot chocolate with a view of the mountains. 🌭☕ And before heading back down, I couldn’t resist stepping out onto the snow to take some photos. It was chilly, but the fresh mountain air was invigorating. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in Switzerland, make sure to put Jungfraujoch on your list. #trip #Jungfraujoch #TopOfEurope #SwissAlps #MountainViews #BucketListAdventure
Scenic journey to Schilthorn, Switzerland
🚂 Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen (20 mins)
Started my day early in Interlaken. Boarded the train to Lauterbrunnen, a scenic journey with a split at Zweilütschinen. Lauterbrunnen, nestled in a valley with numerous waterfalls, was stunning despite being touristy.
🚡 Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp Station (10 mins)
Took a quick cable car ride to Grütschalp Station. The train to Mürren awaited at Grütschalp.
🚞 Grütschalp to Mürren (15 mins)
This train ride could be either on a traditional or modern train. Mürren, a beautiful alpine village, greeted me with charming hotels and ski shops.
🌄 Mürren to Schilthorn with a stop at Birg
Hopped on a cable car towards Schilthorn, stopping at Birg for a breathtaking mountainside walk. The final leg to Schilthorn (20 mins) led to a summit with a revolving restaurant, a small James Bond museum, and stunning views of the Jungfraujoch.
**Visited in summer, so no snow, but the views were still spectacular. Pro tip: always check the weather via the live webcam to ensure good visibility and make the most of your trip 🌤️.

Place Must be Visited - Jungfrau Grindelwald
Switzerland🇨🇭Jungfraujoch
During the few days in Switzerland, most of the time was staying in Grindelwald, and one of the most things I want to do is to visit Jungfraujoch Mountain. I saw many people recommend First Mountain. I also like exciting activities. However, due to time and budget constraints, and the fact that I was traveling during the Christmas period (First Mountain seems to be closed during Christmas), so I chose the Jungfraujoch (quite close to my hotel). After going there, I felt it was worth it and I really liked it very much.
In the morning, it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from Hotel Cabana to Grindelwald Terminal. After that, we took the cable car and then transferred to the train to the top of the mountain. The weather was not very good in the morning and there was no view from the top of the mountain. But you can experience the feeling of a snowstorm at the top of the mountain. It was my first time to see a snowstorm, and I really felt it was very novel and exciting.
There is no view when taking the train because it passes through a cave and reaches the mountain. Then we visited the history of Jungfraujoch and walked through the ice track inside. It was December and some activity areas were closed. If you want to go then, you can go directly to the official website to find out more and plan your itinerary. You can get discount to purchase the ticket when use the Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Pass.
After the visit, we had lunch at Jungfraujoch and then took the train down the mountain. Before taking the cable car (Eigergletscher), we also walked outside to look at the mountain (it should be a ski slope for tourists). The weather became better and can see a very clear Mountain View. We can also take a lot of photos, but be careful of the skiing people.
We spend about 4 hours (including transport, tour and food). If you want to go, so plan half day to stay there. View the nice scenery and landscape of Grindelwald and Jungfrau. I think it is definitely worth it!

Jungfrau | Top of Europe !!!! 🇨🇭
How to get there: There are 2 ways to go up Jungfrau: 1) By the Cable Car (Eiger Express) or 2) By train. We went up by the eiger express (from Grindelswald, interchanging at Terminal), and we came down by train.
Before we went up, we contemplated of joining a tour but given we have done a fair share of research, I ended up going by ourselves.
There are several viewing sites, which ofc include Jungfrau itself, ice palace, exhibition of history of the site construction of Jungfrau, and Lindlt chocolate museum.
It was negative 18 degree celsius on Jungfrau!!! So for those who cannot handle the cold, don’t visit during the winter 😂😂😂
Despite the weather condition was not ideal (no blue sky😣) but i guess it is as expected because we went during the winter ❄️)
Pro tip: I would recommend purchasing the swiss pass as you get discount for the jungfrau ticket and free transport within Switzerland!!

Great once in life time experience. Definitely amazing experiencing top of Europe. Everything is perfect . We went from Interlaken ost to Lauterbrunnen.
After changing trains in Lauterbrunnen, we travelled up to the scenic mountain village of Wengen and then onto Kleine Scheidegg. At Kleine Scheidegg, we changed trains for the last leg to Jungfraujoch.
The majority of this section is in a tunnel, but still it's impressive as a tunnel at an altitude of 3,000 m right through the rocks of the Eiger.
The majority of this section is in a tunnel, but still it's impressive if you just think about it: a tunnel at an altitude of 3,000 m right through the rocks of the Eiger.
Most incredible journey well worth the visit. Tickets must be bought in advance.

🇨🇭Exploring Top of Europe - Jungfraujoch
#wheretogo
Jungfraujoch is a high-altitude saddle in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. It is known as the “Top of Europe” due to its elevation and stunning natural attractions.
🚂 The Journey Begins 🚂
Your journey to Jungfraujoch typically starts in Interlaken, a picturesque town that acts as a gateway to this alpine wonderland. From there, you’ll board a scenic train that slowly takes you up into the mountains. The ride alone is an enchanting experience as you wind through valleys and quaint villages. 🏞️ Swiss pass and Berner Oberland pass covers this train ride!
🌟 The Highest Railway Station in Europe 🌟
As you approach Kleine Scheidegg, you’ll transfer to a cogwheel railway, the final leg of your ascent to Jungfraujoch. This railway journey takes you to the highest railway station in Europe, and the views along the way are nothing short of mesmerizing. The Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks reveal themselves in all their glory, and the anticipation of reaching the summit is palpable. 🏔️ Do take note that you’ll have to pay for the cogwheel railway! If you have a swiss pass / Berner Oberland pass, you’ll only have to pay 50% of the actual price!
❄️ An Alpine Wonderland ❄️
Once you step off the train, you’ll find yourself in a world of pure white. The Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe, stretches out before you like an endless, glistening expanse. But the adventure doesn’t end there! 🏰❄️ Here’s what you can find at Jungfraujoch:
1. Scenic Views 🏔️: The primary allure of Jungfraujoch is the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding peaks, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains.
2. Sphinx Observatory : This research facility and viewpoint is located at the Jungfraujoch. Visitors can take an elevator to the observatory’s terrace, which provides awe-inspiring views of the Alpine landscape.
3. Ice Palace ❄️: An intricate tunnel system carved into the Aletsch Glacier, Europe’s largest glacier. Inside, you can explore a world of ice sculptures and formations.
4. Restaurants and Shops 🏬: There are several restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops where you can enjoy Swiss cuisine and purchase memorabilia. There’s also Lindt Chocolate shop over there! 🍫
5. Adventure Activities 🎿: Visitors can partake in activities like snow tubing and snow biking. This was one of the main reason we came to visit Jungfraujoch, I really wanted to snow tube and it was so fun!! There is also a short zipline that you can do over there! Price was quite reasonable I feel!
Jungfraujoch is a unique destination for nature lovers, adventurers, and those interested in high-altitude research, offering an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Swiss Alps. 🇨🇭
At the end of the journey, the train conductor gave us a chocolate each and honestly, it was unexpectedly a really delicious chocolate!

WORKING TRIP TO THE TOP OF EUROPE
I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be part of this remarkable event.
As Jungfrau Railway celebrated it's 100th Year Anniversary, I was appointed to invite our Malaysian editors and journalists to The Top of Europe, Jungfraujoch to witness the amazing countdown of the event.
Reaching up there from Lauterbrunnen was an incredible journey itself. We witnessed a true engineering masterpiece in the Swiss railway history and enjoyed the beauty of the captivating Swiss mountain panorama. Those breath-taking views along the way truly make it like the time has just stopped!
Once at the top, the medias was invited to have their pre-arranged lunch in Restaurant Crystal, where every guests get to view the panoramic angle of glacier while enjoying the beautifully prepared finest Swiss dishes by the Chef. Having a cup of hot chocolate or coffee while overlooking the spectacular landscape is just another way of enjoying and appreciating life.
After the sumptuous meals, we wander around and took lots of photos before departing back. It was truly an unforgettable experience in Jungfraujoch with the editors and journalists.

The mini exhibition at Jungfraujoch
Do you know what's the tallest mountain in Switzerland? Its jungfraujoch, although I've heard the mount zermatt is actually more popular than jungfraujoch due to its unique horn shape look at the peak where it also shows on your toberlone chocolates as well!
But well I think you should at least still go to jungfraujoch since its the top of Europe and also the highest, and on the way up you will be greeted by scenic views from inside of the train. Also do take note that you are required to change 3 different trains to bring u all the way to the top of the mountain.
The exhibition at the top of Europe has many hand sculptures that changes thruout the year or basically when the sculpture melts, and also thruout the 4 seasons in Europe. But I've to worn you, going up the jungfraujoch isn't gonna be cheap and cost more than 200 dollars per person, but its definitely worth the trip for sure!
