Swan Lake Animal Base, 天鹅湖动物基地, is located in Haikou, Hainan province. It’s an ecological park where you can see many animals, including capybaras, big turtles, swans, monkeys, and alpacas. The park is big, and it’s a fun place for families, especially with young kids. It is easy to spend around 2-3 hours there. Most of the animals walk around freely and visitors can get closer to them and even feed some of them. Tianjia Town, which literally translates as Blue and White Cities. Cute streets and neighborhoods in white and blue colors, small houses on the coast and cozy cafes with terraces right on the beach, bars and shops, souvenir shops and guest houses - all this is Tanija - an atypical quarter for China. It is better to come to the area closer to the evening to admire the sunset in one of the restaurants. We stopped here on the way back from the Taoist park Heavenly Grottoes. It takes about an hour to get from the park and the same amount of time from Dadonghai Bay. You can get there by buses 25 and 30. Baihualing Tropical Rainforest is one of the best natural places to visit in Hainan Island. One of the main attractions of Baihualing is its stunning waterfalls. The spot is perfect to immerse yourself in nature surrounded by dense greenery and biodiversity. There is also a shuttle speed skating trail which I absolutely love! After exploring nature, finishing with a burst of adrenaline and fun is the best thing to end the day. Apart from these two attractions there are many other spots to explore. When I first learned about the cave, I saw surprised to learn how close it is to my hotel! In the little town nearby there are beautiful hotels, amazing beaches and so many restaurants to choose from! Finding the cave wasn’t that easy but I will share the location for your convenience. The awesome thing about the beach is, it’s clean, big , has some trees to shelter from the sun and ablution facilities are a short walk away. There are a few hundred monkeys ranging in size and breed. They are used to people and taking photos of them is easy. They have their own swimming pool too! Hidden between the peaks of a mountain, you will find a little wooden arch with a sign hammered to it, showing a path. Walking down the path there are wooden steps and handrails. At the bottom it appears similar to a volcanic crater but there is a waterfall enclosed between lush trees. Follow the path and you can stand behind the waterfall! A really awesome spot to spend the day having a picnic! Road-tripping in Hainan is easy now as any overseas car license can be converted to a temporary driving license. So, driving around the island, there is an area called Wenchang. This area is quite spectacular as it also is home to an international space station. Many people enjoy fishing from the beach and others are creative with a big polystyrene float and fishing nets. Using the float as a paddle board, its easy to go fishing for the sunset time! This was a funny story! I looked online for abandoned buildings in Hainan, and found this gem! Upon arrival the first time I was denied entry as they are planning to restore the building as it was classified as a historical site. Returning one year later, the local vilagers told me the project has been stopped until further notice and I can enter the building for photos. What I saw is the most beautiful arches, overgrown stairs and the perfect contrast for the lens! I should have taken people with for portraits but I am glad to share the location with you to take stunning photos! There is an old minivan, a lake, some glamping tents to enjoy afternoon sundowners and the hobbit house.
