Red, Gold, and Everything New Year!
#newyearvibes
My visit to SSF Home was like a walk down memory lane, blended with modern flair. The store was brimming with traditional Chinese New Year decor that reminded me of family celebrations from years ago. From elegant red lanterns to gold-accented ornaments, each piece told a story of prosperity and unity.
One of my favorite sections featured symbolic decor like miniature golden persimmon trees and red tassels, which are believed to bring good luck. Another highlight was their range of beautifully crafted “福” wall hangings, perfect for adding a festive touch to any space. The display of faux plum blossoms and cherry blossoms was stunning—they truly brought the feeling of spring renewal indoors.
What made this visit special was how SSF Home mixes tradition with contemporary styles. I left with a basket full of treasures, excited to bring the New Year spirit into my home. If you’re looking to reconnect with Chinese New Year traditions or create a festive atmosphere, this is the place to be!

Chinatown Yaowarat Bangkok during CNY
Walking down the streets of Yaowarat Road during Chinese New Year is definitely interesting. Almost the whole road is covered in lucky red decorations & Chinese characters. There are more street vendors than usual, selling CNY related stuffs. From small tiny decors to big red lanterns, Even cheongsams are hanged on the racks & being sold on the streets. Almost everything you want to find, you are likely to find it selling.
Besides that, Yaowarat is filled with good food. Mostly Chinese cuisine. It is famous for sharks' fins & birdnest.
Evening time about 530pm is when all the street food vendors will come out to set up stall & open business.
One of the famous stall would be TK Seafood. They have a wide range of varieties and their pricing are affordable. Of course, the food is good too.
Be reminded that, it gets crowded as the night pass. So be there early to get seats.
All in all, I feel that Yaowarat is a place where every tourist must visit whenever in Bangkok.
Address - Yaowarat Road Samphanthawong, Bangkok
Highlights - Many CNY decors, interesting stuffs & delicious food
Rating - 8/10

Xi’an - City Wall Day and Night
Xi’an city wall did not disappoint. It’s super simple
to get there by taxi and equally as easy to book a ticket either using Wechat or the ticketing offices.
Once on the wall, you can choose to walk, cycle or take a shuttle bus. The wall itself is huge and the distance from start to finish is about 21km. I decided to cycle first (45rmb to rent a bike for 180 minutes) and then walk and it took me all afternoon. It was however, a very well spent afternoon taking in the beautiful views and learning a little more about Xi’an’s history. There are lots of places to get drinks and snacks along the way.
As I visited during the Chinese New Year holiday, I had the extra treat of observing a beautiful lantern festival on the wall. It cost 100RMB and was open from 18:00-23:00. It was extremely busy but wonderful to see.

City 3/3 during our #lunarnewyear travels: Sanya.
Sanya is a paradise in every way. Bright blue water, coconuts galore, and captivating sunsets nearly every day.
I started nearly every morning during our stay here with a yoga session on the beach, a perfectly blissful way to start each morning on the island.
There are too many wonderful food options here. A favorite place of ours is in Dadonghai, called Marco Polo. Their blue cheese pizza is my favorite!! 🍕 Pineapple burgers, coconut milk bowls, and other island treats await after a long day of enjoying the waters, soaking in the equatorial sun beams, and just allowing our bodies to rest after all of the travels we did in the ten days prior to arriving at Sanya. 🍔🍍🥥
On the evening of January 21st, we went to the top floor of our hotel, and from that spot 36 floors up, waited for the countdown for the Lunar New Year. 🎉🎊🧧The excitement was tangible as apartments from top floor to bottom in the building across from us filled with people coming out into their balconies, yelling New Year’s wishes in the minutes leading up to midnight, then counting down in unison as the clock neared midnight. 🕕
Immediately, we were surrounded with fireworks filling the skies of the city as far as we could see. Whether small curbside poppers or massive, sky-reaching bursts, eager residents lit the skies and streets with sparkling, popping beauty. 🎆🎇🧨Shouts of “新年快乐!” resounded during the following minutes. People were jubilant; 2023 holds hope of new adventures. There could not have been a better place to ring in the Year of the Rabbit than here, with so many other joyful humans, in Sanya. 🐇🧧🎊🥳🎉#china #newyearadventure #lunarnewyear #tripblazers #beachlife #foodie #mytripvlog #yearoftherabbit #chinesenewyear #hainan #sanya #dadonghai

Taiyuan in the winter holiday
We travelled to Taiyuan from Datong on the train which took about 2.5hrs. We were amazed by the Main Street with all the colourful shops and stands. We came to Taiyuan just before CNY so lots of displays and decorations were up. The street food selection was incredible and we spent a whole evening trying the range of treats. While in Taiyuan we visited pingyao ancient city for a day trip which was very pleasant. We also visited the Giant Buddha located about 30min taxi from downtown Taiyuan. It was magical in the winter with the snow around it would recommend a visit. #newyearadventure #chinesenewyear #yearoftherabbit
