Unforgettable Machu Picchu, can’t miss it
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had is going to Machu Picchu, Perú.
High up in a mountain you’ll find an ancient native city, with one of the most charming views in the whole world. Should you like hiking, you can always do the so called “Camino del Inca” and spend several days to get there.
If not, you can just take a beautiful train.
Not only you have this mesmerising unique place but you’ll also get to taste Peruvian cuisine, one of the best in the world.
Why miss it?

A beach and history holiday in Athens
#beachlife
For a place that takes it name from goddess Athena and is considered to be the birth place of democracy. You don't need me explaining why you should be visiting greece. I enjoy history and all things ancient. Thus, Athens has been a part of 3 of my holidays in the last decade. And when i say History, with Athens you are talking about 3000 years of it.
But it also makes for an excellent beach destination..Especially for those seeking a respite from heat and history. Afterall it does boast some of the finest European beaches as with the rest of Greece. With limpid waters and some swish beach clubs offering umbrellas, loungers, and freshly caught seafood, you have plenty to do. Take Yabanaki Beach, for instance, located about 30 minutes from the city center in the upscale Varkiza suburb. It features beach clubs and water sports facilities along the Saronic Gulf.
One of the best neighborhoods in Athens, Glyfada is a favored spot for city dwellers seeking a serene seaside escape, where you can take a refreshing dip or savor cocktails by the shore.#beachlife #ancient #athens #summerdestinations #100waysoftravel
A different Italy
#myhiddengems
I managed to squeeze matera into my itinerary after I was told it is where one of the James bond movies were shot. It was No time to die and I clearly remembered what it looked like. I was in Bari and then i took the bus to Matera. It took a little more than one hour to get there.
The city of Matera is in the Basilicata region. It was a new experience for me to travel here. Something about it looks and feels different too from the regular italy I had been experiencing. It feels somewhat empty and remote but at the same time there is plenty of greenery.
A cool historic town that is full of architecture and has a very laid back vibe. And that is exactly what i recommend doing in Matera. To stroll around and soak in the chilled vibe. Having said so, I did manage to visit several belvedres. They are look out points that give a great view. I also visited the most popular churches, ate some amazing local food and made some great friends.

Turkey: Ani ancient city St George church
If you travel to northeast of Turkey, be sure that you don’t miss Ani ancient city as it’s a very beautiful, unique and historically important place.
Ani is located 42 km from the city of Kars, on a secluded triangular plateau overlooking a ravine that forms the natural border with Armenia. The continuity of settlement at Ani for almost 2500 years was thanks to its geographical location, on an easily defensible plateau that was surrounded by fertile river valleys at an important gate of the Silk Roads into Anatolia.
The most well preserved here is the church of Saint George which was finished in 1215.The exterior of the church is spectacularly decorated. Ornate stone carvings of real and imaginary animals fill the spandrels between blind arcade that runs around all four sides of the church. The interior contains an important and unique series of frescoes cycles that depict two main themes. In the eastern third of the church is depicted the Life of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, in the middle third of the church is depicted the Life of Christ. #turkey #Kars #trip #Ancient city
🇻🇳 Charming Hoi An Ancient Town
A visit to Da Nang is not complete without visiting Hoi An which is located 30 km from Da Nang International Airport. Inscribed in 1999 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. We spent half a day exploring the ancient town which is famous for its traditional architecture, lantern-lit streets and vibrant atmosphere and iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. There were plenty of opportunities for us to capture stunning photos as we explored the old town. We also enjoyed checking out clothes stores which sell Vietnamese traditional costumes with beautiful prints.

A visit to Da Nang is not complete without visiting Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 30 km from Da Nang International Airport. The well- preserved ancient town is located in Vietnam’s central Quang Nam Province, on the north bank near the mouth of the Thu Bon River. We enjoyed our stroll along the river bank during sunset. There were plenty of opportunities for us to capture stunning photos of the riverbanks, ancient architecture and vibrant river life. You can also take a boat ride along the Thu Bon River to witness the picturesque landscapes and local life. Do not miss the night market in the old town near the river where you can find delicious street food, local crafts and souvenirs.

Turkey: Dalyan ancient tombs
Dalyan is one of my favorite places to go in Mugla province. It’s a charming town on Turkey's Aegean coast. I love it for its very slow and quiet ambience. It’s a laid-back town which is living its slow life near the river by observing the tombs of the ancient Lycian city called Caunos.
Things to do are:
1) take a boat to the beautiful Istuzu beach which stretches at the end of the Dalyan River. The water is crystal clear and you can swim there. Istuzu is one of the most important breeding areas for Caretta-Caretta turtles.
2) rent a bike and ride around to check the lush vegetation and breathtaking landscapes of the area;
3) in the evening walk along the Dalyan river and see the ancient rock tombs embedded in the rock facing the town;
4) another highlight of Dalyan is the relaxing thermal bath and mud bath in Sultaniye;
5)
I got there by bus from Bodrum. First I took a bus from Bodrum to Mugla city centre and then changed the bus for Dalyan. The whole trip took me 2 hours.#Dalyan #turkey #Ancient city #muğla #Istuzu beach
Fethiye: the starting of the Lycian trail
We came to Fethiye from Kas to spend our weekend. The road took us 1,5 hour.
First thing we did was great big Turkish breakfast, which cost us twice cheaper than it would in Kas. There is a long promenade along the sea, cost with great variety of restaurants and cafés, so we chose on of them and it was good.
Later we walked towards the marine, the antic theater was on reconstruction so we couldn’t see much of it. Next to the ancient theater there is way up, which is also a starting off the ancient Lycian way to Antalya. By following this road, you can get to the ancient tombs, they are also called Tom of Amyntas and they definitely worse visiting.#turkiye #trip #fethiye #Ancient tombs

📌"Fortifications of Xi'An" 西安城墙
📍Address: Xincheng, Xi'An, China, 710003
I finally came to Xi'An, the ancient cultural capital.
It takes a lot of time to completely walk through the Xi'An City Wall. Overall, it was a very good experience. Walking on the city wall gives you God's perspective, as if you are separated from the world. You can be in a daze by yourself while overlooking the prosperity of the city. Most people rent a bicycle on the city wall and ride around the wall, but it is also suitable for walking. It is a unique experience, and you can overlook the ancient city of Xi'An.
The scenery is very good, especially when the sun is about to go down. It's definitely worth it!

First Tang Dynasty Royal Garden
#falltrip
📌“Tang Dynasty Furong Garden” 大唐芙蓉园
📍 Address: 99 Furong Xi Road, Qujiang New District, Xi'an, Shannxi Province, China
Tang Paradise is the first Tang Dynasty royal garden-style large-scale theme park in China. The Tang Furong Garden we see today was built in 2002.
The Tang Dynasty Furong Garden Park covers an area of more than 1,000 acres and has about 14 landscapes and cultural gardens. The landscape is built next to Furong Lake, with Ziyun Tower becoming the center of the entire garden.
When you enter Xi'an Datang Furong Garden, the first place you check in must be Ziyun Tower, which is also the landmark building of the whole garden. Ziyun Tower, which is connected with arch bridges, gives this majestic royal pavilion a sense of dexterity. The New Ziyun Tower has four floors. Each floor displays the imperial culture of the prosperous Tang Dynasty from a different angle.

Wuzhen - dayview vs nighview in a beautiful water town
For an impromptu day trip, I decided to go to a watertown and picked Wuzhen as I heard it’s the most famous one. Did a quick research and found there are two scenic parts; East Gate and West Gate. Though some people recommended just visiting the West Gate (more popular), I visited the East Gate as well and I’m glad I did it! It’s smaller and quieter with less things and stores compared to the West Gate and has a bit different vibe as it’s more peaceful and has less people.
The dayview was nice but I personally liked the nightview better because it gave more a ancient oriental vibe with lights. It was really really beautiful. It’s such a historic scenic town. In the West Gate zone, it’s quite easy to find food and drinks and souvenir stores. I’d love to bring my friends here if they visit China.

🇱🇰 Sigiriya lion Rock, the First UNESCO world heritage site in Sri Lanka
#freehotelstay
Type "Sri Lanka" in Google images and I'm sure the first few images you see will be the iconic Sigiriya Lion Rock. Inscribed in 1982 as one of the first UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka, Sigiriya Lion Rock is an ancient rock fortress built in the fifth century which stands around 200 m high.
The Sigiriya Fortress has an interesting history. It was built by King Kasyapa, the second king of the royal Moriya dynasty of Sri Lanka. He was not the rightful heir and acquired the throne by rebelling against his father. He built the palace right on top of the rock column to avoid potential attacks from his brother Moggallana, the rightful heir to the throne. He was defeated by Moggallana 22 years after ascending to the throne. The fortress was used as a monastery after Kasyapa’s death till it was abandoned in the 14th century. A few hundreds years later, it was discovered by British Army Major Jonathan Forbes in 1831.
Be prepared to have a workout while visiting the Lion Rock as there are around 1200 steps of stairs to climb throughout the visit. The amount of time taken to reach the top depends on your fitness level and also the crowd. We took about 2 hours to explore the site.
A foreign adult ticket costs USD 30 while a foreign child ticket costs USD 15. Tickets can be bought online from the official website or from the ticket office onsite. The site opens from 6.30 am to 5.30 pm every day. It is better to arrive early in the morning or in the late afternoon (last entry at 4 pm) to avoid the scorching sun.

Ancient Temple - Wat Chedi Luang
#changmai #thailand #temple #ancient #ancienttemples #history
Thailand has loads of temple situated all around the country. One popular temple called the Wat Chedi Luang located in the north of Thailand in changmai: 103 Prapokkloa Rd, Tambon Si Phum, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand is one of the oldest temple which dates back all the way to the 14 century.
The build of the temple is remarkable, especially back in the olden days where there isn't any machinery. This is definitely one amazing marvel ever built. Due to the ongoing refurbishments an entrance fee is required to enter in the grounds of the temple. Also, do remember to wear covered pants covering below your knees as this is still considered a scared ground.

You ask me which is my favourite, it will be definitely the Ta Phrom Temple as this place has many photogenic spots with tree roots growing through the temple making it looks like a place out in a romantic forest.
Entrance fees to Ta Phrom comes together with the visit to the 2 other temples of ankor wat and bayon which will be explained in another post.

Angkor Wat - Cambodia is breathtaking
#siemreap #cambodia #angkorwat #temples #ancient
I did not expect Angkor Wat to be so big! I would highly recommend going at a quieter time like i did. We went at 12 noon and yes its hot but there is plenty of shade in Angkor Wat, and you’ll be thankful when you pretty much get the whole place to yourself! Lets face it, its annoying seeing such a beautiful place with so many other tourists to get through right?!
As you go inside (from the west gate), turn right and see the beautiful carvings first before seeing everything else
