Bustling Belgrade
Belgrade is the bustling capital city of Serbia. Interestingly, it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe. One of its significant landmarks is the Belgrade Fortress. This imposing Fortress dates from the 12th century although there has been a citadel on this site since the 3rd BC.
Bus 600 will take you from the airport into the city centre in about 30 minutes and runs approximately every half an hour.

Belgrade Fortress of Solitude just minutes from a bustling city
Belgrade is a fascinating city, mixing old and new side-by-side. Bustling with life, straddling two rivers is a city that talks. The thing that struck me most about this place was the local willingness to talk. Sit on a bus, people will sit next to you and talk. Sit on a bench and they’ll do the same. But for peace and quiet you have a huge open park hiding a brilliant fortress. With views over the rivers and city you can walk, sit, eat, drink and watch hours melt away in the warm sunshine, or in the shade during the summer. #belgrade #historicallandmarks #localguides
Best of Belgrade
During my weekend stay in Belgrade. While there were several experiences and sights that surprised me in a pleasant manner. The most joyful of them was my visit to the kalemegdan park. This park is part of the complex which also houses the Belgrade fortress and some unique heritage structures.
What works exceptionally well in the park's favour is the location by the river. That gives you a very nice feeling to walk along. Especially in the pleasant hours of late afternoon. This is the location where the two rivers of Belgrade are in confluence. This causes a natural peaceful atmosphere. Throughout the park there are various things to see including the view of the city. And if you stick around the sunset it is even better. An absolute favourite in Belgrade.

A lesson in Histroy
#myhiddengems
I was glad to be part of a tour that had a very good guide. This made the trip very enriching with so much history being revealed. Firstly the complex in which both the fortress and the park are, is a very beautiful location by the confluence of two rivers. Our guided tour started in the Upper Town, where the imposing walls and towers provided a sense of defense. There are various bastions, gates, and the impressive Clock Tower. The military museum, located within the fortress was very captivating with its extensive collection of artifacts, weapons, and exhibits detailing Serbia’s military history.
On the whole this is a historically rich site dating back to the Romans. The other things in the complex like the park too are significant with its own unique offering. It has a beautiful space with well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and plenty of spots for picnics and relaxation. From the fortress you will have a spectacular view of the city and the rivers. A trip here is a must when in Belgrade.

An authentic experience
While exploring the eastern part of the continent and destinations in the Balkans. I had to make a brief stop in Belgrade. Not much is known to the regular tourist who goes after the well illustrated and seasoned destinations. Surprisingly, the experience in Belgrade was mostly positive. From a travel perspective, this is a place that offers a more local experience. There are no touristy setups with a few must touch famous spots. Instead, it offers hidden gems that require discovering.
For me, Belgrade had a fascinating mix of architecture, which was beyond just medieval influences. This gives it a unique sense of authentic. I started off with one the largest orthodox churches, the temple of sava. The structure is known to have a domestic weighing thousands of tons. My favourite thing to do was to visit the complex that has the fortress and the park. What a beautiful setting by the confluence of two rivers and rich history demonstrated. Another personal favourite was the quarter of skadarlija. This part of the city has a unique artsy vibe with beautiful cafe and artworks. It's vibe is distinct and worthy of an experience. Plenty other historical and interesting stops all across the city including the Nikola Tesla museum.

The name can also refer to the adjoining artificial Lake Sava and its beach. Belgrade F
Belgrade Fortress is the core and the oldest section of the urban area of Belgrade. For centuries, the city population was concentrated only within the walls of the fortress, and thus the history of the fortress, until most recent times, reflects the history of Belgrade itself. It's a huge space, the castle, parks all around castle, a zoo at the bottom of the street, tennis courts, museums in the castle, bars, pubs in the castle, hidden spots... There are amazing views from the top the bottom and photo shooting spots. Basically there is always something for everyone out there to relax, to play chess, to run around, to have picnic. You can't live Belgrade without seeing Fortress (Kalemegdan).

Belgrade’s
Belgrade’s street art is everywhere. You’ll find it everywhere from the sides of new commercial buildings to Communist-era modernist buildings to architecture dating back to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Some artwork is political, some commemorate people who have passed, and some is meant to beautify the city.
All of the various styles, mediums, and intentions blend together, helping give Belgrade the cosmopolitan, vibrant feel that reigns over the city. You ever get the chance to come over, Definitely must see the street arts of Belgrade...

Biggest Orthodox church in Serbia 🇷🇸
#wecreate
The Saint Sava Temple is one of the most beautiful places in Belgrade.
It’s located in the Vracar district and is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. The best way to get there is by taking a taxi or public transport.
The temple is dedicated to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The architecture is stunning and it’s one of the most important landmarks in Belgrade.
The temple has a rich history and was built on the site where Saint Sava’s remains were burned by Ottoman Turks in 1595. The interior is decorated with beautiful frescoes and mosaics. I highly recommend visiting this place if you’re ever in Belgrade.
Is just amazing, the magnificent siize of the building and it's gardens around it.

The Bajrakli Mosque is a mosque in Belgrade. It is located in Gospodar Jevremova Street in the neighbourhood of Dorćol. It was built around 1575, and is the only mosque in the city out of the 273 that had existed during the time of the Ottoman Empire's rule of Serbia. Between 1717 and 1739, during the Austrian occupation of Serbia it served as a Catholic Church, however, after the Ottomans conquered Belgrade again it returned to its original function.
