#myhiddengems I was glad to be part of a tour that had a very good guide. This made the trip very enriching with so much history being revealed. Firstly the complex in which both the fortress and the park are, is a very beautiful location by the confluence of two rivers. Our guided tour started in the Upper Town, where the imposing walls and towers provided a sense of defense. There are various bastions, gates, and the impressive Clock Tower. The military museum, located within the fortress was very captivating with its extensive collection of artifacts, weapons, and exhibits detailing Serbia’s military history. On the whole this is a historically rich site dating back to the Romans. The other things in the complex like the park too are significant with its own unique offering. It has a beautiful space with well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and plenty of spots for picnics and relaxation. From the fortress you will have a spectacular view of the city and the rivers. I spent a delightful day exploring the center of Subotica, a charming city in northern Serbia. The city is filled with beautiful buildings and lush greenery, making it a picturesque destination. I recently had the pleasure of dining with my family in Capriolo restaurant at a Salaš in Bačka Topola, and it was a truly delightful experience. The venue boasts a beautiful garden with a charming little pond, creating a serene and picturesque setting. The indoor seating areas are large, while the secluded outdoor spaces provide a perfect spot for a more private dining experience. Families will appreciate the small but varied playground for children, as well as the football court, which adds an extra layer of fun for the kids. The mixed barbecue we ordered was absolutely fantastic. The accompanying 'šopska' salad was fresh and delicious, and the pancakes we had for dessert were a delightful end to a wonderful meal. This is one amazing candy and coffee shop that is a must if you go in Novi Sad. Everything inside is from Yugoslavia. In autumn is even more beautiful because you are under a lot of leafs and nonnof them is falling on you. The coffee and the stuff were amazing. Inside you can find a lot of things from the past and you feel like you are in time machine - and that is actually the name of the place - Времеплов (Vremeplov) in English Traveling in time. On less then 100km from Belgrade, there is one very nice historic city which name is Novi Sad. You can go there by train, bus or car and you can arrive very fast, in less then 1 hour. First place which you can visit when you arrive is Old Town area. It's also city center and there are many old buildings and nice church. Also there are a lot of restaurants where you can try local food from Vojvodina. Second place which you must visit is Petrovaradin fortress. Beside old fortress and watch, from where you can see whole city, this place is famous by world music festival which name is Exit. If you want to calm down and relax you can go to Strand. Kopaonik is one of the Serbia's most important National Park and also most famous Ski Resort in this part of Europe. On 2017m Pancicev Vrh is highest peak. From that place when weather is nice and clean you can see half of the Serbia. Believe me view is amazing. There are many hotels and private houses in village few kilometers away from center. Finding nice accommodation will not be problem, there are so many options for everyone. You should also try tradional Serbian food. Some of the dishes are Ajvar, Kajmak, Proja, Kacamak, Pita, Slatko, Dzem and many more. During the winter Ski Resort have 26 ski slopes with length of 55 kilometers. Many of the lifts are new so you can enjoy in good skiing. Petrovaradin Fortress - the symbol of Novi Sad, also known as Gibraltar on the Danube, was built between 1692 and 1780 by Marquis Sebastian Vauban. This was during the reign of the Austrian emperors Leopold I, Joseph I, Charles VI, Maria Theresa and Joseph II. The fortress has a dominant geographical and strategic position in the region, and therefore it has been plundered by many nations over the centuries. The fortress has traces of an early Stone Age settlement, and later traces of the Celts, Romans, Huns, Avars, Byzantines, Hungarians, Serbs and Turks, who were expelled in 1687 by the Austrians, and five years later they began to build the fortress. In Latin, "petra" means wall, "var" in Hungarian means city, while in Turkish "din" means faith. Combining these words, we got the name Petrovaradin, which in the literal interpretation of our people means that this is a city on a rock, strong as faith. From 1768 to 1776, an underground fortress was built - underground passages, galleries and corridors over four floors. The length of these underground corridors is slightly more than 16 kilometers. This unique system was designed to install minefields, as well as to store uniforms and weapons, and has many loopholes, about 10,000. Today, the fortress is one of the best achievements of European military architecture of the 18th century. It is very well preserved and is considered the second largest fortress in Europe. The best way to get there is by taking a taxi or public transport. The temple is dedicated to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The architecture is stunning and it’s one of the most important landmarks in Belgrade. The temple has a rich history and was built on the site where Saint Sava’s remains were burned by Ottoman Turks in 1595. The interior is decorated with beautiful frescoes and mosaics. Kale fortress has the dominant place in Skopje. It was built of stone blocks from the ruins of the city of Scupi, during the rule of the Byzantium Emperor Justinijan the 1st. The ramparts of the Skopsko Kale are 121 meter long and today one square, one rectangular and one round tower are saved. It originates from the 6th century, while it's presents appearance is from the Ottoman period. The great complex since 1392 was stationary of the Turkish army until 1913, when Skopje falls under Serbian authority. And in the period from 1913 to 1953 here was settled the Yugoslav army. Today in the space of the fortress is an arranged park, which serves for recreation and fun, and in the evening hours besides the sounds of the Macedonian folks music, the visitors have a wonderful view on the city and the river Vardar from there.
