Journey Through the Mystical Landscapes of Vietnam
#vietnamtrip #Hanoi #Sapa #ninhbinh #seasia
Our adventure began with an exhilarating transfer from Noi Bai International Airport to the enchanting town of Sapa. Nestled in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains, Sapa greeted us with its misty allure and vibrant culture.
For the next four days and three nights, we immersed ourselves in Sapa's breathtaking beauty. Our journey to Fansipan, the "Roof of Indochina," was a thrilling ascent, offering panoramic views of terraced rice fields and distant valleys. At Nhà Thờ Đá, the iconic stone church, we felt the pulse of Sapa's rich history. The serene landscapes of Núi Hàm Rồng and the mesmerizing Cầu kính rồng mây provided us with countless photo opportunities.
A visit to Cây cô đơn, the famous lone tree, left us marveling at nature's solitary beauty, while the Nhà văn hóa Thôn Cát Cát introduced us to the vibrant traditions of the H'Mong people. Each location in Sapa, from its cultural hubs to its natural wonders, left us with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for this unique region.
Returning to Hanoi, we were eager for the next leg of our journey—a day tour to Ninh Binh, often referred to as the "Ha Long Bay on land." Our visit began with a serene boat trip through Tam Coc and Trang An, where we floated past limestone karsts and lush greenery. The ancient capital of Hoa Lu beckoned us with its historical significance and timeless beauty.
Exploring the Bich Dong and Bai Dinh Pagodas, we were captivated by the intricate architecture and peaceful surroundings. The Mua Cave and its viewpoint offered a challenging climb, rewarded by sweeping views of the Tam Coc valley below—a sight that took our breath away.
On our final day, we transferred from our hotel in Hanoi back to Noi Bai International Airport, reflecting on our incredible journey. Vietnam's diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage had left an indelible mark on our hearts, making this a trip we would cherish forever.
Heaven on Vietnam
Most guides to Ninh Binh (or the town of Tam Coc) seem to mention the same tips, often based on a day trip or one-night stay. While you can see some of the highlights on a quick trip, I stayed in Ninh Binh for 4 days, letting me get a complete picture. I highly recommend at least 3 days to anyone. Don’t just go for sightseeing, lose your self riding around the green fields. You will love it. #vietnam #ninhbinh #traveling

Mountains and Caves Galore in Ninh Binh 🇻🇳
Ninh Binh is serene and not to be missed when in Vietnam. Definitely go here to get your dose of nature and if you’re fascinated by caves.
Just a few hours drive from Hanoi centre, make sure you book a comfortable car to commute.Stay here for 2 nights to explore the little town. I was short on time so I booked a day tour for peace of mind. Though it took all day, a day tour was more than enough as I’d see more mountains and caves in Halong Bay.
My favourite was the Trang An boat road. Gave me an hour to appreciate the beautiful views, reflect and felt a sense of peace.
There are restaurants that serve good food around the area for lunch. Most do buffet style with various Asian cuisine.
Don’t skip Ninh Binh! North Vietnam is absolutely gorgeous and the highlight of the country.

The Beautiful Bai Dinh Pagoda 🇻🇳
This time i want to share about Bai Dinh Temple or Bai Dinh Pagoda in Ninh Binh City, Vietnam. This place is one of the most famous & visited temple in Ninh Binh City, attracting many Buddhists and visitors to come here.
This pagoda is renowned as one of the biggest temples in Southeast Asia right now. Bai Dinh Pagoda's name means meaning towards Mount Dinh, the place where heroic events took place in Vietnamese history.
Sadly when i came here it was raining all day long, so the sky is not clear. Im sure when the weather good, this temple will looks so beautiful. To visit this temple, you neet to use electric car first to reach the entrance gate of the temple. The temple area is also so big, you need at least 4 hours to visit them all.

Halong Bay Cruise, Cave Tour, Vietnam

Tamcoc (Tamcoc) or Halong Bay is a boat trip
with a local rowing boat, amidst the beautiful atmosphere on both sides of the river, through the community with crystal clear water. When far from the community, you will find mountains and cliffs surrounded by green trees and a boat trip through 3 caves, which is the origin of the word Tamcoc in Vietnamese. The boat fee is 150,000 dong per person.
The highlight of this place is the rowers, most of whom use their feet to paddle, which is a strange sight for us.
And for anyone who comes here, it is recommended to bring a hat or umbrella, because the sun is quite strong. But it is definitely worth the beauty you get to see.
There is also an activity, cycling around the city and the mountain and rice fields. Chill and enjoy https://maps.app.goo.gl/6dKDSSoFChN4Q1Rj9

Bird Park in Tam Coc - many butterflies but no birds
The park itself is big and nice, there are boat tours available.
Apparently, we have not seen any birds there, but we enjoyed walking in this park, and there were so many butterflies.
One more highlight is the mermaid cave, but be careful as the ceiling is very low. You have to go in a kneeling position there. It's nice and cool inside.
Also there are many scenic photo spots.

Ninh Binh is insanely good!
Ninh Binh is located around 90 km. away from Hanoi. I visited Hanoi for 5 days and was wondering if there is a beautiful natural place to go. I came up with Nih Binh since it is known as 'the inland cousin of Ha Long Bay' and it was a filming location of Kong: Skull Island (2017). I took a van directly from Hanoi which takes 1.5 hours and stayed there for one night. I took a boat cave tour at Tràng An to see hidden temples and lots of beautiful scenery. Also, in the morning, I went to Mua Cave for hiking. Although it was tiring with steps, the view from the top is great.

Ninh Binh, VN - Sunsets, Boats and Mountains
Getting There
Ninh Binh is located in North Vietnam, around 3 hours from Hanoi. There is no airport, so to get here you’ll need to take a bus or a train from wherever you are currently at in Vietnam. For example, we got a bus from Hanoi to Ninh Binh for £7 each, but buses and trains also go from other places such as Hue.
Attractions
Ninh Binh is a beautiful place to visit, the landscape is covered with mountains and trees.
1) Go on a rowing boat tour in Tam Coc and explore caves and pagodas.
2) Visit Bich Dong pagoda, which is nestled into the mountain side.
3) Climb 500 steps to the top of Lying Dragon Mountain, located at Mua Cave.
4) Cycle through the rice fields and villages for unforgettable views.
Hotels
There’s not too many options in Ninh Binh, but they are good.
1) Lys Homestay.
Run by an amazing family, the rooms are clean and full of natural light. The location is great and is near all the restaurants and shops. If you need to rent a bicycle or scooter, you can do that here!
2) Banana Tree Hostel
A bit more social and upbeat, this is also a great place to stay. It’s located in the same area as Lys Homestay, so you get the same great experience!
Food & Restaurants
For us, this is where Ninh Binh lacked a bit of quality. However, there is still some decent options to choose from.
1) T-Pub Restaurant
For some amazing freshly made pizza!
2) Lantern Restaurant
For some great Vietnamese food!
3) Pig Family Cafe & Restaurant
For some cheap food and cheap beer!

Hang Mua- Laying Dragon
Hang Mua- Ninh Bin region. 2.5 hours from Hanoi.
After climbing for approximately 500 stairs, you ll come to one of the most beautiful sceneries. Gorgeous view over the rice fields, limestone mountains and Tam Coc Valley. You have 2 peaks to choose. One is a bit easier, while the other one is a bit challenging. But it s definitely worth going an extra mile. On top of this side, there is a Laying Dragon statue, made from stone, and it has massive in local culture. The Mua Cave Ecolodge is situated at the base of the mountain. To get to the stairs, you will have to firstly go through this oasis of lush plants and tranquility. The eco lodge also has a small lake which offers a spectacular view over the Hang Mua Peak.
This is definitely worth visiting. #ninhbinh #Hangmua #vietnam

A Legindary Viewpoint in Tam Coc
Hang Mua Viewpoint is the name of this place. It's located in Tam Coc, near Ninh Binh, about 4 hours drive from Hanoi.
There is a huge lotus pond near this place, so try to plan the visit on Lotus season.
The viewpoint is on a high mountain, where you can climb by stairs.
The trip is tiring, make sure you are in a good physical shape before you go. But even though climbing there is very tiring the views are absolutely breathtaking.
There is a small fee for the entrance and a place to park your bike.

2-hour bamboo boat cruise with scenic views
A famous attraction, Trang An. Known as “Halong Bay on land”. Local women get to row the boat once every 3 days to earn US$10 to feed their families. It would be nice if the rower can communicate simple English so that she can identify the specific attraction to take note of (eg. King Kong movie location spot). Otherwise, it was relaxing to enjoy the cruise, chatting with your fellow boat travelers (up to 4 pax) and going through a few limestone caves. There was also small paddles onboard for us to try some rowing too. #2023TravelWish #ninhbinh

After the rain, comes the hues
Water Temple at Trang An in Ninh Binh;
This is definitely one of my top must visit sites for anyone who is looking for serenity on their path to enlightenment. The energy here reminds me of the vortex in Sedona. You leave here feeling full and rejuvenated.
We took a tour from Hanoi for $33/each. The tour started at 830am and lasted until 8pm. It included a buffet meal, pickup and dropoff from hotel within Old town, a few water bottles, all entrance fees and a local guide. Bring some extra tips for the guides. It was pouring when we went on the tour and the boat captain pushed all 4 of us along the river without an umbrella. She still had a smile on her face and offered to take photos for us.

Exploring Mua Caves in Ninh Binh
While everyone was rushing to get to the top of the mountain, @nvang3 and I slowly took our time to find the best photo spots. We got very lucky and found an amazing lotus pond with a walkway that eas totally empty. We got to enjoy the entire place by ourselves.
While visiting Mua Caves, the cave had been filled with water from the recent downpours of the rainy season. Since it was closed, we weren't able to visit in October. However, all is not a loss. We were able to enjoy many different things.
You can walk alongside a walkway that hugs a huge field of lotus. While everyone was climbing up to see the view, we took advantage and had the entire garden to ourselves.
Next, we journeyed up the stairs to follow our fellow travelers and was blessed with beautiful views of the valleys. You can see people canoeing on the river. There were people who hiked to the top and took photos with a dragon statue at the top.

Mua Cave Ecolodge (Hang Mua Mountain)
⛰️ Mua Caves Ecolodge ⛰️
Today, we will take you to sleep at Mua Caves Ecolodge in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam.
The accommodation is quiet because not many people know about it yet.
Mua Caves Ecolodge is a very beautiful hotel.
The advantage of staying here is that we can walk up to the Hang Mua viewpoint for free at any time. I jokingly asked the staff if we could go up at 8 pm. They seriously answered that we could. The door was not locked, but it was dark.
...Umm...just kidding 🤣
The staff here are very cute. They are very eager to help. Most of them are children.
The room I stayed in was a Deluxe Double room for 2 nights with a bathtub.
The bathroom is a mountain wall, stone bathtub. The room is big, beautiful, and very cool. Take a shower in an open, natural setting.
The price per night is 2,300 baht, including breakfast for 2 people.
With free access to Hang Mua Mountain
Because the entrance fee is 100,000 dong per person if you are not a hotel guest.
The hotel restaurant closes at 6 pm, but it is difficult to find food in the surrounding area. Because the school is in the middle of the mountain, if anyone likes nature, peace and safety, I recommend this place.
The breakfast here is not a buffet and there is no refill. Order and it's done, but it's about the same as a normal person's full meal. There are drinks, main dishes, salad, fruit. It's complete with all five food groups until the headmaster has to give a shield!!
.... But!!!
A ghost like me is not full!! It's too little!!! Only buffet is enough. Don't you understand that breakfast is an important meal!!!
So I secretly asked for more salad, more eggs, and got friendly with the staff and asked for more food all the time.
Until the staff asked, "Are you a baby?".... No, no, no, just not yet. Sorry 🤣

Breathtaking tour through grottoes and caves
This natural caves and grottoes complex were awarded UNESCO heritage award. We booked a boat ride through the caves, temples and grottoes. The boat is using maneuvered manually without any assisted motor to ensure the nature is not disturbed by human intervention. The boat lady really amazed us by her riding skill (we were a party of 6 people). She also shared with us the story of this complex, the caves and the temples nearby. Along the way, you can stop at these places for a leg stretch and mesmerize the beauty of nature. It’s so stunning that these limestone caves were formed years ago and still remained majestic. Definitely will come back to try another route to explore this area more. Do tip the boat guide as they earn very little from the ticket sale by the company who manages this complex.

Best duck in Vietnam you find in Ninh Bình🥰
#magicalxmastrip #ninhbinh
If you’re visiting Ninh Bình, you absolutely can’t miss the experience of eating grilled duck at one of the town’s famous eateries. The duck is cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It’s so good, you might start thinking this restaurant could soon earn a Michelin star for its exceptional preparation of duck.
One standout dish is the grilled half duck (135,000 VND), which is generous enough to share between two or three people. The duck is marinated with a special blend of herbs and spices, then grilled over charcoal, giving it that smoky, crispy finish that makes each bite irresistibly delicious. Served with a side of fresh vegetables and a tangy dipping sauce, it’s a meal that hits all the right notes of savory, sweet, and a touch of heat.
What makes this dish even better is the atmosphere of the restaurant. The service is excellent, with friendly staff who are more than happy to explain the preparation process and the origins of this beloved local specialty. The vibe is relaxed, offering a perfect setting for enjoying a hearty meal with friends or family.
In Ninh Bình, eating grilled duck isn’t just about filling your stomach—it’s an experience that brings the flavors of the region to life. If you’re ever in town, don’t leave without trying this marvelous dish. It’s definitely a must-try!
