Baolun Temple at Ciqikou Ancient Town is a must-visit.
Was not expecting much of Ciqikou: thought it to be highly commercialised and should just be a quick stop. I was completely wrong in my misjudgement. It IS highly commercialised, HOWEVER, I wandered into this temple after seeing it on a street direction post and spent some time in there. WOW! Firstly, the ascending stairway to the main level itself was already making me 'trigger-happy'. I took my time soaking in the nooks and crannies; the terracotta and fall colours around me; and observing local young ladies posing for the cam. Make sure you spend time scrutinising the stone carvings that make the enclosure of one of the halls: interesting depictions of filial piety (chinese characters/proverbs carved at the side explained each banner. I googled one of them and learned about the story behind it. The place is small but it's a great place for photography. It wasnt crowded when I was there in December. #baoluntemple #宝轮寺 #ciqikou #磁器口
#磁器口 #ciqikou This is a night view of Ciqikou. The shops usually start to close at around 8.30 pm onwards, hence no more crowds at this time. This is the best time for night scenery photos because the lighthings are still on. If you go after 9pm, most shops are already closed and the lights are off.
How you can get there is by MRT Red line to reach here. The station is exactly on the same place, walking distance is around 5 mins to this place entrance. No entrance ticket is required. Full of hotpot restaurants and recommend to have it here.
This is a must visit place. The crazy crowds will usually start from 10 am-ish, so if you want a better photo, suggest reach there before 9.15 am, but some shops may not open yet.
We stayed at Lianci Hotel abd the stay is pleasant. Highly recommended to stay for 1 day. 1 day stay is enough and the hotel rate is not expensive.

Mountain city 🏔️ and Wulong Park 🏞️
lovely weekend trip to Chongqing.
Frist day visited Wulong and the 3 bridges, amazing area and lovely walk around. It was very easy to walk around as it a single route. I did hire a private tour (legend tours) as it is 3hr away from the city but it is worth it. Especially the last part, if you enjoyed transformer it will be a treat.
After, in the evening when to Hongyadong Commercial St, to see the light and visit the different levels of food and shops available and when up the tower to have a night view of the city .
Second day, went Ciqikou Ancient Town. Lovely and fun to walk around the old town, to see different shops and food stalls. After, went to the famous station of Liziba .
Great and confusing city to walk around 😁😁#chongqing #wulongpark #hongyadong #observationdeck #ciqikou

Ciqikou ,Chongqing
The Ancient Town of Ciqikou (磁器口古镇) is a cultural conservation village and a famous tourist attraction in Chongqing. It looks similar to an old market or an ancient market in our country. Those who want to go back in time must visit the Ancient Town of Ciqikou (磁器口古镇) because this place still preserves the way of life and reflects the original roots of the city very well, whether it is the ancient-shaped buildings, the production sources of products and local foods that have been passed down for many generations. This place is a source of various ancient snacks, both sweet and savory, for you to try or watch the process of making them. #ciqikou #chongqing #ancienttown
Very Affordable Choice: Junchao Mila Hotel
It's a nice blend of home and luxury. I booked an extra night because I felt so comfortable and didn't want to leave. As a foreigner who spoke no Chinese, I was contacted with a staff member who attended to me 24-hours on WeChat. I had need for nothing because that answered all my questions readily. They even offered to upgrade my room, but the one I was in was already so comfy I declined 😸😂. I love that they're close to hotspots like #hongyadong and #ciqikou, as well as this amazing Dream castle #huashengyuan. Give it a try, and the price is right! Breakfast included.
Ciqikou on a weekday

Ciqikou is a quite famous place in Chongqing. Constantly developing to attract tourist. It is an ancient town within a moder day city.
You can take puclic transportation to get there. The most convenient one is the light rain line 1, which takes you to Ciqikou station (瓷器口站). There are also some bus stations close by.
Ciqikou was first built during the Song Dynasty, and became prosperous during the Republican Period. Located next to the Jialing River, Ciqikou was a busy and crowded port, and was also called “Little Chongqing”.
You can enjoy the local specialities, teas and also visit the Baolun temple, which is located close to the river. There is one famous smelly/sticky tofu place, where you need to line up to get the delicacy.
If you want to avoid the crowds from the main shopping street, feel free to wander around the secondary streets ad enjoy a glimps of the authentic Chongqing life.
