Lost In Nature - Ushuai’s National Park
A beginner friendly place to trek, one could easily kill half a day here at Laguna Esmeralda located in Tierra del Fuego National park. There are public shuttles to Laguna Esmeralda, round trip cost 3500ARS as of Dec 22. Earliest shuttle departing at 10am hourly and last shuttle leaves from the parking lot at the trailhead at 5pm.
The trail itself is well marked and you will not get lost even if you’re by yourself as it’s pretty straightforward. It takes around 1 hour to get to the lake from the parking lot, the only challenging part is probably the end of the trail which was a bit steeper but easily doable. The views along the way is amazing, and once at the lake you can sit down to have your picnic and enjoy the serene landscape. Suggest to bring some bites and have hiking shoes as some places can be muddy!

Sea, mountain, valley, forest and lakes... La
If you are looking to connect with nature and the history of the southernmost city in the world, Tierra del Fuego National Park is the ideal place to do it.
The park protects 68909 hectares and is the only one in Argentina that combines marine, forest and mountain environments giving shape to the sea coast, lakes, valleys, extensive peat bogs and magnificent forests dominated by lengas, guindos and ñires. All these environments form a unique scenery with the purest air you can breathe.
This place encloses the history of the Yámanas, the first inhabitants of these lands. Paying attention, you can find mounds of mussels and mussels, remains of their food, known as "concheros" or shell middens (archeological sites) that remind us that these lands have been inhabited for more than 10,000 years.
Here you will find exuberant and diverse landscapes, inhabited by birds such as the picturesque cauquén marino, the steamer duck or the black-browed albatross. As you walk along the trails it is normal to come across gray and red foxes, and to hear the "tac, tac, tac" of a woodpecker.
i reccomend to you to trip with the train End of the World.

【South America Five-Country Tour Series Seventeen】Argentina's 'Port of Ushuaia'
🎥South America Five-Country Tour【Argentina Station】The 8th sightseeing spot we visited was the capital of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego Province, 【Ushuaia】.
👫🏻After finishing a day tour in Uruguay, we flew from Buenos Aires to the city known as the 'End of the World', Ushuaia, on an Aerolineas Argentinas flight. After a 3-hour flight, we safely arrived at Ushuaia Airport.
🛫Ushuaia Airport, with its 'all-wood structure', caught our attention. As the southernmost airport on Earth, it is a model of environmental ingenuity.
🏞When we walked out of the airport, we were stunned by the beautiful mountains and waters before us. No wonder tourists from all over the world flock here to witness the southernmost city on Earth.
🖼The natural environment of Ushuaia is breathtaking. To the north lies the magnificent Andes Mountains, and to the south, the Beagle Channel. The beautiful bay scenery of Ushuaia Bay and the majestic snow-capped mountains in the background form a stunning picture.
🎞As the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia attracts countless adventurers, nature lovers, and travelers to explore the starting point of the Antarctic continent.
🌫The weather here is unpredictable, with sunny mornings, foggy afternoons, and starry nights, giving one the feeling of being in a fairy tale world.
🏙The main street in downtown Ushuaia is named after Argentina's founding father, San Martin. The street extends 2 kilometers along the mountain, with modern houses of great design perfectly combined with lightweight wooden houses. The street is lined with cute little wooden houses that seem to belong to Snow White in fairy tales.
🏟Although Ushuaia is a small town, its geographical location makes it an important supply and starting point for Antarctic scientific research and exploration. From Ushuaia, it is less than 800 kilometers south through the Drake Passage to reach Antarctica. This makes Ushuaia a must-stop for many scientists and adventurers heading to Antarctica.
🌈As a miracle city at the end of the world, Ushuaia attracts more and more tourists with its magnificent natural scenery, polar charm, and unique geographical location. It is not only a paradise for adventure and outdoor activities but also a small town full of cultural charm………

The correct way to open Ushuaia at the end of the world
The plane ✈️ landed on time at Ushuaia airport at seven in the morning, with light rain 🌧️ outside the window, and the whole city was shrouded in dark clouds
After collecting the luggage 🧳, contact the staff at the TAXi counter at the airport, he will take you outside the airport and arrange a taxi 🚕 for you. The price of taxis in Ushuaia is about the same as UBER in Buenos Aires. The airport is very close to the city center, about a 20-minute drive. After arriving at the hotel to store your luggage, start the mode of walking in the rain
Ushuaia is a very quiet and beautiful small town. Its beauty does not come from tourist attractions or landmark buildings, but is inherent, and can be felt anytime, anywhere. There are many port towns in the world, and there are also many towns under the snow mountains 🏔️, but Ushuaia combines both. Under the surrounding snow mountains, colorful 🌈 houses are built along the mountain, extending all the way to the port. The town has a large drop, and there can be tens of meters of altitude within just three or five blocks
By noon, the rain gradually stopped, and the small town washed by the rain 🌧️ was exceptionally clean, the ground was spotless, and the fresh air was refreshing. We started climbing from the seaside to the mountainside, and then returned to the seaside from the mountainside, wandering aimlessly, squandering our time to our heart's content, until the sunset, admiring the different postures of the small town in the changing light and shadow, watching the lights of the cruise ships 🛳️ heading to Antarctica light up. This is probably what the fireworks at the end of the world look like, this is probably the correct way to open Ushuaia
Of course, it's not that Ushuaia has no attractions. Here, you can enjoy hiking in Tierra del Fuego National Park ⛲️, or take a boat 🚢 to the southernmost lighthouse to see sea lions, seals 🦭, and penguins 🐧.
1️⃣ For Tierra del Fuego, you can choose to join a tour group, or you can buy round-trip bus tickets at the bus station to visit on your own. The group tour takes about half a day. I personally recommend visiting on your own, with ample time to fully experience different sceneries. The ticket ➕ bus fare is about 300 RMB
2️⃣ Take a boat out to sea, there is a row of beautiful little wooden houses at the dock, where they sell boat tickets for going out to sea. There are more lighthouses and sea lions and seals to see, and the ticket price is more than 300 RMB, taking about 2 hours
3️⃣ I will write about these two trips in detail soon
Additionally, near the dock, I also saw a blue double-decker sightseeing bus 🚌 that can explore the scenery of the small town from a further distance and more in-depth
Exchange rate 💰
Ushuaia has the worst exchange rate of the trip, as of April 2024, 1 US dollar is exchanged for 980 in Buenos Aires, while here it is 1 US dollar for 900
Shopping 🛍️
Shopping in Ushuaia is considered cheap in Argentina. The same souvenirs cost twice as much in El Calafate as they do here
Dining 🍴
1️⃣ Perhaps due to the season, I went to the famous Captain's Restaurant twice but did not find whole king crabs 🦀. The king crab at the Chinese restaurant Bamboo was pitifully small and quite expensive
2️⃣ There is an Argentine grilled lamb chop 🍖 restaurant by the sea that I highly recommend. Three whole lamb racks are roasted over an open fire, cut as they cook, and the taste is simply fantastic
Accommodation 🏠
Most of the hotels in Ushuaia are concentrated near the seaside, which is very convenient for travel, while most of the homestays are concentrated on the mountainside. Although you need to climb a bit, the view is good, overlooking the harbor, and you can choose according to personal preference
Security 👮
Ushuaia has very good security. At eleven or twelve o'clock at night, the streets are still bustling with people, and there is no need to worry about theft or robbery

Yes, it is really located at the southernmost point of the world because Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world. I want to see with my own eyes that once I have been to the farthest and southernmost post office in the world. I want to send a postcard back to Thailand to myself. It must be very impressive.
And inside this post office, there is also a passport stamping point for tourists who travel. If anyone wants to stamp a passport pattern, they can do it here. It will definitely be another meaning of the trip....
But....while planning to arrive at the post office, I learned that this post office has been closed for 3 months because this post office is not strong enough from the wind and weather conditions. And the office juts into the sea, making tourists have to take pictures outside this post office as a memory that they once visited the southernmost post office in the world!!!
As for the passport stamping point, it has been moved to the city. It is inside the Touris Center located at the port in the city. You can stamp it yourself. Free!! No charge

The Lighthouse at the End of the World
The Lighthouse at the End of the World

Traveling on the world's southernmost railway
Traveling by the world's southernmost train...📍
This is one of the homework that has been prepared for traveling to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. With the intention of planning a trip to Patagonia Argentina, it is considered a South American country. Coming this far, we must travel to the end of the world. Until I found information that I would come to Ushuaia and what interesting things this city has, it was additional homework....
Ushuaia is another large city with a lot of tourists. At first, I thought the city would be like a quiet province outside the city. But on the contrary, this city has many interesting things, both tourist attractions, walking places, and many beautiful photo spots. The highlight of this city is that it is a boarding point for a large cruise to Antarctica. The port is very large. If anyone is going, plan an additional 10-15 days to travel on a giant cruise ship. It is very interesting...
For this destination, I pinned the train end of the world, which means the southernmost train in the world. It is a steam locomotive train that is still in use until today. It is the last one that is still in use. In the past, this train was used to transport food, construction materials, etc. to the prisoners' territories in Ushuaia. Until now, the train is still in use, but has been transformed into a tourist attraction. Let tourists experience the train in South America. Therefore, the theme of Tierra del Fuego or train end of the world is decorated in a prisoner style. The staff will dress up as prisoners to tease tourists to have fun.
For personal opinion: It is another place worth visiting, but... it may not seem like much. The train will run slowly along the train tracks. It stops at 2 points. The first point is to let you go down to buy a photo at the station before getting on the train + get off and walk in the beautiful area for about 15 minutes. It feels like you are tricked into buying a photo 55+!! Then take the train to the end of the station. You can walk back, but I recommend buying a round-trip ticket, which is very convenient.
Entrance fee 50 USD + Park entrance fee 1200 ARS

Traveling to Ushuaia, Argentina
Travel Guide to Ushuaia 2️⃣ (Part 1)||Travel Guide to Ushuaia 2️⃣ (Part 1)
After arriving in Ushuaia, I walked into a hostel, booked two tours, and then randomly joined a city tour on the last day. These three tours almost covered everything around Ushuaia.
The hostel's information is in pictures 2 & 3. This hostel was recommended by a fellow traveler, and after experiencing it, I truly think it offers great value for money!
1️⃣ Lakeside tour//pictures 4-6: This tour heads north from Ushuaia, following Route 3 all the way to Lago Fagnano. Route 3 is the last stretch of the Pan-American Highway, and along the way, you can see mountains and Lago Escondido, which is similar to our Heavenly Lake, nestled between valleys and only visible when the weather is good. The scenery is magnificent, and this tour is underrated in various guides, but I highly recommend it. It takes about 6 hours, departing at 3 pm and returning home by 9 pm. The price can be seen directly in the hostel's WhatsApp showcase.
2️⃣ Penguin boat tour//pictures 7-8: In this tour, we sailed along the border line towards the open sea, circled around Isla Gable and returned. It also took about six hours. Because of the distance, I saw whales and dolphins, which made me marvel at the wonders of the Earth once again. Actually, every travel agency offers boat tours, but the difference lies in how far they go, and the prices vary accordingly. Some agencies turn back after reaching the red and white lighthouse, but others go further. So, when booking a tour, make sure to ask how far they can go.
3️⃣ City tour//pictures 9-10: You can buy a ticket and board the bus opposite the tourist center in the square, and take a tour around the outskirts of Ushuaia. The scenery is similar to that of Western Sichuan and Tibet, and also reminiscent of the landscapes in 'Heidi'. As someone who loves to see the scenery, I was very satisfied.
4️⃣ Tierra del Fuego National Park: I didn't have time to visit, but I feel that the scenery is quite repetitive, and it might not be necessary to go. Moreover, my friend who went there said that the post office was temporarily closed, and I don't know if it's open now. So we went directly to the post office in the city to buy stamps and send postcards.
5️⃣ The city's post office can be found directly on Google Maps, or you can ask the shopkeepers; it's easy to locate. You can go there to send postcards.
I had a funny mix-up when sending postcards; I was looking for glue until I realized that the back of the stamps becomes sticky once wet. The post office gentleman used his saliva to help me stick them, which was quite a shock to me.
These three tours perfectly organized my two days in Ushuaia, and I highly recommend each one.

End of the World - Ushuaia, Argentina, from here to Antarctica
Ushuaia, is the end of the world, the southernmost city in the world.
Remember the lines from Wong Kar-wai's 'Happy Together': 'In January 1997, I finally came to the end of the world. This is the last lighthouse in the south of the Americas, and beyond that is Antarctica.'
Ushuaia is the loneliest city in the world, the best destination to calm the soul. Located in the southern part of Tierra del Fuego, north of the Andes. It is 3200 kilometers away from its capital, Buenos Aires.
Here it seems like a fairy tale world, with cute little wooden houses of Snow White on both sides of the street;
Built by the sea and the mountains. The cold air and the snowy peaks make people feel the breath of Antarctica in advance;
The most beautiful sunset in the harbor, under the cold sea breeze, the colorful sunset sprinkles the sea, the weather is ever-changing;
At the post office at the end of the world, send a postcard, stamp it with a penguin pattern, and send infinite thoughts to distant relatives;
The lighthouse at the end of the world: the southernmost lighthouse on earth, standing on a lonely island, pure and lonely;
The starting point of the Pan-American Highway. The longest road in the world, extending north to Alaska in the United States, almost from south to north;
Buy a boat ticket to Antarctica from here. More than 800 kilometers away from Antarctica,
Cross the Drake Strait and reach the uninhabited Antarctica. It is the closest and most ideal supply station to go to Antarctica.

Southern Patagonia’s most charming city
Experience the charm of Southern Patagonia in Ushuaia.
At the southernmost tip of South America lies a land of superlatives and natural beauty. Ushuaia is home to Tierra del Fuego National Park, and the Post Office at the End of the World.
Ushuaia’s Main Street is exudes charm. Visitors can spend the afternoon strolling through gourmet chocolate shops, coffee houses, and local handicraft shops.
In the summer, several ships depart for Antarctica each day. So, the town is filled with joyful travelers departing on the trip of a lifetime.
We came to Ushuaia as a stopover, but fell in love with it’s laid-back pace, charm, and beauty.
🔹 Give yourself at least two days to soak up the atmosphere downtown.
🔹 Take a hike in nearby Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego. Buses to the park can be found near the center of town.
🔹 Relax and enjoy! This is what Southern Patagonia is all about!

🇦🇷 Tierra del Fuego National Park, the place that made me fall in love with hiking completely!
💁♀️Foreword:
In the beginning of 2023, my husband and I embarked on a 14-day journey to Argentina, with Ushuaia as our final destination. In Tierra del Fuego National Park, there is a post office at the world's farthest end, but what we can't forget is the 8.8-kilometer hike in the park that took us four and a half hours, not the post office or the postcards we sent from there.
There are four hiking routes in the Fire Land Park. Based on duration, scenery, and experience, I highly recommend this 8-kilometer coastal hiking route (called Route 2 in the park). Along the way, you can see the surging waves of the sea and experience walking through the primitive forest full of feces. We were lucky enough to see a nest of baby eagles! Although we experienced strong winds and hail, if I come to Ushuaia again, I would still choose to embark on this route.
🕙Travel date: January 25th, departing at 9:00am and returning at 4:00pm.
🥾Travel mode: Independent travel
📍Location: Ushuaia Fire Land Park, guided by Google Maps.
💲Ticket purchase: No need to buy tickets in advance, you can buy them at the park entrance when you get off, I forgot the price... You can also pick up an English map when you buy it, which is convenient for finding your way later.
🚗Arrival method:
1. Take a bus from the tourist center, round-trip fare is 6000 pesos/person. There is a money-saving strategy: don't appear too anxious, there will be people selling last-minute tickets before departure, and you can get on the bus for about 4500 pesos.
2. Take a taxi directly to the destination. Taxis in Ushuaia use meters, and if you're unsure about the price, you can ask at the tourist center. If there are many people, taking a taxi may be more cost-effective~
👀Tour route:
1. The bus will take you to the World's End Post Office, which is also the starting point of the No.2 hiking trail. After visiting the post office, you can start hiking.
2. There are yellow markers along the way as signs, so don't worry about getting lost. Just be careful to look for the yellow markers at forked roads and don't take the wrong path.
3. The endpoint of the hike is a bit confusing, as it overlaps with the road. Just follow the road ahead and you will see the sign for the visitor center. The shuttle bus pickup point for the return trip is located at the visitor center.
✅Suggestion:
1. It is recommended to wear windproof and waterproof clothes, pants and shoes, and bring a hat and gloves. The weather in Ushuaia changes quickly, and we encountered strong winds, heavy rain and hail during our hike.
2. Go light and bring a small amount of food and water supply. Although the journey is not far, it is not easy to walk, and you can take a break in the middle to replenish energy.
3. There is a lot of feces on the road, both from herbivores and carnivores (possibly foxes). Although we only encountered a nest of young eagles along the way, there are definitely many animals around. Don't panic if you encounter any, just ask the park staff in advance about the types of animals and prevention methods.
4. The driver who picks you up on the return trip may not be the same driver and car as the one who brought you here, so you can ask if your ticket is valid for their car when you see one (there are departures at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm, but don't trust South Americans' sense of time, my husband and I didn't get on the bus until 3:30pm).
