National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Review

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, formerly known as the Sutra Library, is located in the dense forest between the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and the Linggu Temple. It is a classical building modeled after the Lama Temple of the Qing Dynasty. The main building is covered with green glazed tiles on the roof, yellow glazed tiles on the ridge, and a copper canopy in the center of the ridge. The beams, columns, and lintels are all decorated with colorful paintings. The building houses Mr. Sun Yat-sen's classic works and precious historical materials such as enshrined photos. A 2.6-meter-high full-body bronze statue of Mr. Sun Yat-sen stands on the flower platform in the middle of the square in front of the building. There is a 125-meter-long stele corridor behind the building, engraved with the full text of "Three Principles of the People" written by Mr. Sun Yat-sen.

Wonderful memorial and definitely worth a visit. A change of guard can be witnessed during opening hours at every full hour. There's also a museum in the same building detailing the history and significant historic milestones. A nice souvenir shop can also be visited at the end of the exhibit tour. Easily accessible by various public transport. Also a nice spot to take a photo of the 101 Tower if there's clear skies. This monument is a must visit on your Taipei list.
