Michael Rakowitz
Michael Rakowitz is an American artist of Iraqi descent, born in 1973 in Great Neck, New York. He is known for his socially engaged and politically charged works that often address complex issues such as the Iraq War, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the broader Middle East politics. Rakowitz uses everyday materials and objects to create sculptures, installations, and public art projects that invite viewers to reconsider historical narratives and contemporary geopolitics. His work has been exhibited in prestigious institutions around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Tate Modern in London, as well as the 16th Biennale of Sydney.
