Sarah Michelle Can Do No Right

Since “The Grudge” came out in 2004, Sarah Michelle Gellar has made nine films — one went straight to DVD, another has bounced around more than Pam Anderson’s boobs in trying to find a release date and all the others were barely blips on the radar. The only noteworthy title was “Southland Tales” and that’s just because it was so despised at Cannes, you can still hear the booing.

Needless to say, SMG has yet to find a film that is worthy of the acting chops she displayed for seven seasons as Buffy Summers. Perhaps her latest film is that elusive gem, the one that’ll finally show the world what us Buffyverse citizens have known for quite some time — Sarah Michelle will break your heart.

In “Veronika Decides to Die,” she plays the titular character who attempts suicide only to survive and find out that she damaged her heart beyond repair during the overdose, so she now has a week to live. It may not be the year’s most uplifting film, but come this March I am hoping that Sarah Michelle finally gets the reviews she deserves and the booing is saved for “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.”
