Keith Raniere, the leader of the Nxivm cult who has some of his female followers branded like cattle with his initials, has reportedly fled to Mexico.
People en Español reports that the charismatic cult leader has moved to Monterrey and is living there with the help of wealthy Mexican followers, including Emiliano Salinas, son of former Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari.
According to the group’s former publicist, Frank Parlato, Raniere fled the country aboard a private jet to avoid his imminent arrest.
US law-enforcement agencies are reportedly investigating claims that Nxivm’s inner circle of young, female followers are blackmailed and branded with a hot iron.
The cult’s membership roster includes India Oxenberg, the daughter of “Dynasty” actress Catherine Oxenberg, and Seagram heiresses Clare and Sara Bronfman.
