Jeff Bridges Carries a Photo of the Moment He Met His Wife

A heartwarming video of actor Jeff Bridges telling the story about how he came into possession of a photo of the moment he met his wife Susan has recently resurfaced online.

In the video, originally filmed by the Oprah Winfrey Network, Bridges tells the story of how he was making a movie called Rancho Deluxo in the mid-1970s in Montana when he noticed a “gorgeous” girl on set.

“Finally, I get the guts to ask her out,” Bridges says. “I say, ‘Would you like to go out tonight?’ And she goes, ‘No’.” But his future wife left Bridges with a modicum of hope after saying “Maybe I’ll see you around.”

And sure enough, a few days later Bridges saw her in a bar and the pair danced together. Bridges says “That was about it, man. I was head over heels.”

Fast forward 10 years and Bridges received a letter from the makeup man who worked on Rancho Deluxo. The makeup man, who was also a keen photographer apparently, told Bridges that he had been “going through his files” and had come upon a shot of Bridges asking a local girl out.

After reading the letter, two photographs fell out of the envelope which shows the first words Bridges ever spoke to his wife which are now his “prized possessions.”

“To have pictures, what are the odds of that,” he says as he shows two photos: One of him and his future wife, and a portrait of his wife taken on the same day.

Bridges have been married to wife Susan for 48 years and the pair have had three daughters — Isabelle, Jessica, and Hayley.

“Don’t get a divorce — that is key” he told the Miami Herald on the secret of his longlasting marriage.

As Digital Camera World notes, those photos were taken on a film camera and discovering an old photo the way Bridges did is a great way to reconnect with the past.

Bridges no doubt appreciates the photos so much partly because he himself is a keen photographer famous for using the Widelux Panoramic camera.
