  • 24th February marks the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A delegation composed of FR, UK, AUS, JPN, KOR, NZ and the European Union (EU) met the Papua New Guinea Foreign Affairs Minister Hon Justin Tkatchenko to deliver a demarche on the Ukrainian resolution to be voted in the United Nations General Assembly. This draft Ukraine/EU Resolution reiterates the need to end the war this year and to further intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve peace. It calls for de-escalation, an early cessation of hostilities, a peaceful resolution in line with international law and the UN Charter, notably territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations. #24Feb2022 🇪🇺 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 🇯🇵 🇰🇷 🇳🇿 🇵🇬

  • Staff of the Department of Justice & Attorney General (DJAG) are daily exposed to complex legal cases and sensitive matters involving survivors of violence. Therefore, they require specialized skills in trauma-informed response and stress management while engaged on the ground to provide legal support and uphold justice. As part of the EU-PNG Partnership for Good Governance (P4GG), the European Union is funding a workshop to train them on Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment (PSEAH). The training is carried out by a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) specialist, equipping DJAG personnel with survivor-centered approaches, strengthening referral pathways, and enhancing awareness of stress and vicarious trauma. The three-day event was opened by DJAG Secretary, Dr Eric Kwa, whose commitment to capacity-building reflects strong leadership in promoting a more responsive approach in government institutions. #p4gg #djaq EU-PNG Partnership for Good Governance Department of Justice and Attorney-General

  • 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗹𝘆𝗻! We’re pleased that Yanamlyn had an incredible experience with the European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP). She described her participation to the programme as a truly enriching and eye-opening journey, both professionally and culturally. Yanamlyn joined seven other participants from around the world in Brussels where she engaged with key institutions of the European Union, from the European Parliament, European Commission to the European External Action Service. Her focus? Deepening her expertise in gender-based violence (GBV) and sorcery accusation-related violence (SARV), areas she passionately advocates for in Papua New Guinea. We are looking forward to seeing how she brings these insights into her work. Yanamlyn Yana #EUVP
