USAID Philippines, through the ABC+: Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines project, is helping schools recover after Severe Tropical Storm #KristinePH struck the Bicol Region in October. Over 18,600 learners' kits, 529 teachers' kits, and 8,800 early grade reading materials were provided to 54 affected schools. DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara and DepEd Region V - Bicol Director Gilbert Sadsad accepted the kits from ABC+ Chief of Party Ina Aquino at Naga Central School 1 in Naga City, Camarines Sur on December 2, 2024. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to USAID and ABC+ for their generous donation of learner and teacher kits. These resources will be instrumental in supporting our young learners and teachers in the Bicol region, especially those who have suffered significant losses due to Typhoon Kristine and the subsequent typhoons, “ Dir. Gilbert Sadsad said. The essential resources, worth Php7.6M, will help benefit more than 19,000 teachers and learners as they rebuild and continue their education journey.
