𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 | Atty. Mark Peñalver, Executive Director of Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS), will join global leaders and stakeholders in Busan, South Korea, for the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5) from November 25 to December 1, 2024. This meeting seeks to finalize a comprehensive and legally binding agreement addressing the environmental and health impacts of plastic pollution throughout its life cycle. "INC-5 marks the last in the series of five negotiations for a legally binding instrument on plastic pollution. May this final leg result in a strong, genuine, and ambitious policy and measures to address the full life cycle of plastics. Time is of the essence. Plastic pollution has already damaged habitats, disrupted ecosystems, and threatened human health. In Davao City, plastics have found their way into critical water sources posing a threat to our watersheds and our drinking water. Hence, it is time for the global community to act with urgency anchored on justice and sustainability," Peñalver said. As INC-5 serves as the final stage in a series of negotiations, IDIS remains committed to amplifying regional concerns and advocating for bold, justice-driven policies. The outcome of this meeting holds the key to addressing the global plastic crisis and securing a sustainable future. #IDIS #IDISOpportunities

Baguio City has decided to abandon its Waste-to-Energy Incineration project, choosing instead to adopt zero-waste solutions and a new garbage collection system. This bold move by Mayor Benjamin Magalong highlights the city's commitment to sustainability. With the State of the City Address tomorrow, we encourage Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte and our City officials to consider similar eco-friendly approaches. Let's move towards a greener and healthier Davao! 🌱 #IDIS #NoToWTEIncineration #ZeroWaste
