  • 📣 Florenz Borbon is one of the volunteers in Resilience Builders' Co-creation workshop in Victoria, Mindoro Oriental 🫡 "As a new Volunteer for Resilience Builders, my experience taught me the importance of including youths in the movement of protecting our environment. I saw how this organization teach young students to be aware of climate change and empower them to become leaders and advocate our mother nature. From my experience, we had a focus group discussions and we analyze some issues and alarming concerns and taught them how to find a solution. It was educational and Empowering because this experience led me to continue my dedication to free of service. My takeaway quote will be "There is nothing much more stronger than a heart of an advocate and a volunteer for they are Catalyst of Good Change". Their efforts of teaching really influences the minds of the youth to be future advocates and leaders." • Tinipak River, located in the Sierra Madre mountain range, is more than just a natural wonder—it's a sacred site for the Dumagat Remontado. For generations, this river has been a vital part of their spiritual and cultural heritage, a place where the Dumagat-Remontado indigenous peoples connect with their ancestors and the natural world. Today, Tinipak River faces a grave threat from the New Centennial Water Source Project. This large-scale development poses the risk of irreparable damage to the river and the surrounding environment, potentially erasing centuries of cultural heritage. Protecting Tinipak River is about more than conservation; it's about honoring the rights and traditions of the indigenous peoples who have been the stewards of this land for generations. Stand with the Dumagat Remontado and other indigenous communities in their fight to defend their sacred sites and preserve their way of life! • DID YOU KNOW? Project NOAH was supposed to be the Philippines’ foremost program to prepare communities for impending floods, typhoons, and the like. However, the Project was defunded in 2017. Last week's impacts of Typhoon Carina highlighted the urgent need for robust disaster response systems in the country, a role that Project NOAH could have effectively fulfilled. While Project NOAH continues to exist under the University of the Philippines' Resilience Institute, significant investments are necessary for it to fully live up to its promise of providing Filipinos with access to accurate, reliable, relevant, and timely hazard and risk information, which is increasingly important in the face of extreme climate impacts. #TyphoonCarina #ClimateJustice #DisasterResponse #Philippines #ClimateChange #ClimateAction

  • TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY!🌏 The digital age is opening up incredible opportunities, and at KOMUNIDA, we're excited to see how young people are leading this evolution and shaping our cultural landscape. With technology in their hands, young people are leading the charge in creating solutions that will help us work towards sustainable development. However, we know that not everyone has equal access to technologies, especially in low-income areas and among young women. As we head towards 2030, it’s crucial that we bridge these gaps, empower all young people, and ensure that no one is left behind. #YouthPower #IYD2024
