My heart goes out to the South Korean people during this difficult time As a designer inspired by global cultures, I’ve been fascinated by K-pop and had been actively learning more about their culture in music, fashion and the arts for the last 13 years. My multicultural upbringing - Spanish Filipino Chinese - has shaped my creative perspective. I want to express my condolences for those who lost their lives in the tragic flight accident. My roots inform my design aesthetic, just as South Korean culture has enriched many creative professionals, it taught me so much, helped me understand its language and impact on my past as a former Korean language student and earlier part of my career as a design consultant and meeting people who continue to celebrate its uniqueness in shaping our pop culture today. In this moment of mourning, I’m reflecting on the interconnectedness of our global community.
