Rakuten STAY Kokura Station

The hotel was good overall, but I didn't receive any emails from trip.com or the hotel mentioning a password to enter the hotel beforehand, and even when we called the phone number written on the wall at the door no one responded. Fortunately, there were other guests in the hotel who opened the door for us, but when we checked in Trip.com did not provide a check in number, we couldn't do self check in at all, and we called several tablets on the phone before someone got through. We were frustrated with so many problems as we had two children in our peers. Trip.com did not provide any assistance at all during the whole process, so I will not book Rakuten Hotel through Trip.com in the future.

We spent 4 nights at the end of December 2023 at Grand Base Fukuoka. The room seemed a little smaller than the photos, however was alright for our family of 4 including 8 and 11yo kids. Much appreciated was the modern bathroom with shower and self-filling bath tub, and the washing machine. Would have liked slightly wider double beds and space for more seating in the living/ dinner area (the couch was just cosy for 2 people). We had to wait a little while for another guest to complete their procedure to check in at the terminal (for some reason I couldn’t click the link to pre-check-in on the website. Maybe as I am not a resident?). There was some server connection error but once I called the help number on the counter they helped me out. We sought help two more times when we keyed in the wrong room code and for help to book an early morning taxi. The first was dealt with helpfully, the latter was not so successful as the staff eventually explained they couldn’t help with booking taxis (we managed to book via the Go app eventually). The location was convenient - we walked most places - to Canal City, the Tenjin underground market. All about 10-15 minutes walk. We also walked about 7 minutes to catch the bus to Ohori Park. Overall a smooth stay.

The apartment is pretty spacious which is good for a group of friends or family. A 7-11 is located within a minute of walk which is very convenient in terms of getting groceries or supplies if needed. Given it’s unmanned, so guests will need to be mindful of the emails sent from the hotel service team which contained the check in information, nonetheless, I found the check in and out process quite smooth. Really enjoyed the stay and had a great time with my mates.

First of all, I still recommend this hotel. The main reason is the location, which is about 1.7 kilometers from Hakata and 1.3 kilometers from the center of Tenjin. It's not far to walk. The second reason is that the price-performance ratio is quite high. Because I have to stay for four to five days, I searched for a long time and only this hotel met my requirements. I was dissatisfied with two points: First, I also accept the self-service style of this hotel. They will send me an email to pick up the key on the day of check-in. The problem is that since you can send it in Chinese, why can't you fully explain how to get started from a novice's perspective? You claimed that there was a front desk customer service at 3 pm, but in fact there was no such thing (I have learned this from the comments sent by other friends who stayed there, and I was surprised that since you can't do it, why do you still note that there is a customer service at the front desk at 3 o'clock?) The fact is that I got the key from the password box, but there was a glass door to enter the elevator (as shown in the picture), and there was no explanation in the email. There was a button sticker on the wall next to it, but there was no Chinese. No one would explain it in Chinese when making an Internet phone call, which was really maddening. Later, I carefully studied it and found that it might be that the keyhole under the right button could be opened by twisting the door with the room key. So if you require self-service, can you think about the settings from the user's perspective? The second thing I strongly reacted to the operator is that there are blind spots in hygiene, but the problem is that the degree of dirtiness inside and outside the air-conditioning outlet is shocking when it is opened. It is obviously a blind spot for cleaning. For a long time, no one has cleaned it, no one has regulated it, and no one has ever checked it. Because such a relatively closed room, the hygiene of such an air outlet device is so poor that it may affect the health of the residents. I strongly hope that the operator will pay attention to this and make improvements. I believe that the air-conditioning outlet in your own home will not be so dirty, so ”do not impose on others what you do not want others to do to you”, not to mention that this facility is for the public, it should not be like this!

In conclusion, it was the best accommodation for this trip, but there were several issues. Obviously, there is a luggage storage service in the accommodation service, but when I arrived, it was operated unmanned and I couldn't get any service. It's ridiculous to start your journey with your luggage. And there was an issue in my room where the door lock didn't work, and I was able to solve this problem in an hour through a conversation with the manager. (The door wasn't closed tight, so I had to push it with strength.) The room was in the best condition and everything in the bathroom and toilet was good. There were some inconveniences, but I told the master well and said that he would fix it, so I think it will be a better hotel.

Value for money! Especially very good for Family of 4 pax to stay together. Just need to walk within 10 mins can reach 博多車站 shopping and dining centre! The room is spacious with a dining and sitting area. Clean, just a bit dusty in area near window. Washroom and bathroom is very clean and spacious. With all necessary amenities. Without staff for check in, better read clearly their email Instruction and do pre-registration, then will be no worry. Take taxi from airport there just under yen2000 and within 10 mins. Will stay here in the future.

This is not a hotel, homestay to be more exact , but it the entire block , maybe 9 room in small building that is dedicated for tourist stay purpose, so I guess semi hotel semi homestay. First of all, there is no one in the building that is going to welcome , greet or say hello to you, You be given pin to enter, self check in process and go to your room. From outside it look small, but as soon I got in my room, this is the largest room I stayed in my entire trip to to Kyushu. There is enough space for my kids to run around, so you imagine that, is even larger than most studio apartment and come with large screen tv, fridge, simple cooking, oven, and etc, almost like a resident home. At first I am still skeptical about non hotel stay in Japan, but after this I am very confident, I looking forward again my stay with Grand Base. Don't worry about the location , just within 10 minute walk away from the station, so If we can do it with luggage and 2 kids, I think most people can do it with confidence.

Hakata
It was the best one night in the city with my parents. It was a pity that I only stayed for one day. Fully equipped kitchen, heating and clean bathroom. Practical setup. For a young adult, it takes about 10 minutes to get to Hakata Station. Yodobashi Camera, Ropia Supermarket, Daiso, Family Mart, Lawson, close proximity, udon restaurant, very close proximity. It's close to the station, but it's quiet because it's inside a residential office. It's a perfect place to come with kids or parents. It was clean, but there was a little dust on the living room floor. Still, I will visit again next time^^

The room is very large and spacious. Before check-in, you will be informed of the lobby password and pre-chick in information by email. If you fill it out in advance, you can save the time of filling in the information on the Ipad after you arrive. After entering the lobby, use the ipad to chick in. There are English, Japanese and Chinese options. , basically click OK to the next step. There is a step in the middle where you have to pay Fukuoka tax. You can swipe your card, Apple Pay, or pay in cash. You will have a video call with the hotel staff. After paying the tax, click Next and the room number and room will appear. password to complete the check-in procedure.
