We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed skiing. The slopes are well prepared and easy to ski. We enjoyed CNY at the hotel and also the F&B Arrangement did meet our expectations - even though we are European. I would like to mention that the staff was very helpful - especially Hannah (Front office) and also both the F &B Manager and Housekeeping Manager made sure we were well looked after and all three spoke very good English. Thank you very much and we will visit again.

Location is fantastic inside the old walled city and only 50m to the entrance of 天下第一关。 It's a very modern hotel on the inside and traditional on the outside. Excellent beautiful rooms and comfortable bedding.They do offer onsite meals and the food is excellent. The staff are also very polite and they opened the doors as we stepped into the main hall everytime and they were also very attentive as when we could not find the kettle in the room as we asked on our way out, the staff male sure they walked us to our room as we returned and showed us where was the kettle hidden. It was my husband birthday and booked Shangri-la, It was very clean and have a stunning view. The room has a nice smell. The reception was very cheerful, and they all could speak English. I requested a birthday theme for my husband's birthday and they designed the room with some towel, also send a free cake and red wine. ( I have to mention, Thank you dears) The breakfast was very delicious. We also tried the Buffet dinner one night, it was very delicious with both choices Chinese and Western. The swimming pool was clean.

What a lovely gem of a hotel! I was reluctantly (very reluctantly) persuaded to leave Beijing for the weekend and head for the nesrest beach - Qinhuangdao. The Bullet Train was great fun - we splashed out on first-class tickets and had the first-class cabin all to ourselves. Qinhuangdao was a welcome change of pace from the self-important hussle of Beijing. The bad things first - the weather was terrible and the beach itself is more 1970s Blackpool than present-day Antibes. But the Hampton by Hilton was a delightful surprise. The staff are absolutely delightful. Although they don’t speak English, the use of a few translation apps soon explained to them what we needed and they always did their best to look after us. The rooms are great - we even got a free upgrade to a suite. The breakfast options are many and varied. We were the only Western guests that weekend and the other guests seemed to be Chinese middle-class families. If I had to guess I would say they tended to be from other parts of China as they didn’t seem to be the usual rude impatient Beijingers. It was lovely to see Al the little children having fun with their parents. So, our thanks to the ladies at Reception, the young concierge guys, the housekeepers and the busy breakfast staff. The owners of the this hotel is blessed with great staff. Thank you all so much for looking after us so well.

Second stay at this really fantastic location. It’s such an enjoyable weekend away. The staff are mostly very friendly and welcoming, but I seemed to have the bad luck of being greeted by Ms Attitude who rolled her eyes at me when I asked if she could use English. Otherwise everyone was lovely and it’s a great hotel. The Aranya village is a Great place to visit

We arrived before check in time and they were happy to check us in early, the staff were super friendly! No English but they tried their best to communicate with us. The location is about a ten minute walk to the ancient town, 5 minute drive to the train station and about 5/10 minute drive to the nearest beach. Would definitely recommend for any travels.

The hotel accepts foreigners. The room was spacious and clean, with all necessary amenities. The location is fairly central, and a short bus/taxi ride will take you to the major attractions (it's located just between Laolongtou and Shanhaiguan scenic area). Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was great and varied, mostly Chinese but with good Western options if you prefer. The staff was very nice, gave me apples and two extra bottles of water because it took them a bit to figure out how to register me. Overall, a very good option and great value for money.

I am very disappointed with the management of the swimming pool at 6th floor regarding to : 1. No life guard provided and allow non-guest swimming lessons occupying the whole pool without the area separated. 2. There are three so-called coaches to look after the pools but they all turn a blind eye when seeing someone break the safety codes including diving. 3, as you know no matter the business arrangement between intercontinental and the pool operation team, we as a guest the interest of us should prevail over the non guest learners of the swimming lessons. 4. I have repeatedly reminded the swimming coaches about the issue but they just do not pay any attention and performed any precautionary actions.
