This edition captures critical progress and persistent challenges influencing the nation's trajectory. Key updates from this report include: 1. Economic Challenges: While Pakistan’s tax-to-GDP ratio has improved, rising poverty (25.3% by end-2024) and insufficient GDP growth underscore deep economic disparities. The discovery of 32 tons of gold in Attock offers a glimmer of hope for fiscal recovery. 2. Security and Diplomacy: Cross-border tensions with Afghanistan and increased militant activity by the TTP and BLA in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan highlight the need for enhanced security measures and diplomatic engagement. 3. Technological Advancements: The launch of the EO-1 satellite signifies progress in space technology, offering potential benefits for agriculture, disaster management, and environmental conservation. However, significant losses from internet shutdowns remain a challenge. 4. Social Development: Over 26 million children remain out of school, exacerbated by systemic issues, climate change, and underfunded education infrastructure. 🌍 In this week's global roundup! 🇨🇩 Accountability Lab RDC held their 4th Regional Summit on Integrity themed around “Transparency and Accountability for the Reconstruction of the South Kivu Province". The Summit focused on one of the province's most significant taxes from the import of petroleum products – the Conventional Tax on Petroleum Products – and recommendations for better governance, transparency and accountability around it. 🇲🇱 Young artists have been flexing their creative muscles in concert with Accountability Lab Mali, using music and films to combat misinformation in their communities.
