  • 🚩Are companis using SAP ECC still using Oracle DBMS?? 💥Yes, many companies that are still using **SAP ECC (ERP Central Component)** continue to use **Oracle DBMS (Database Management System)**, although it is becoming less common due to shifts toward other databases. ### Key Points: 1. **SAP ECC and Database Flexibility**: - SAP ECC can run on various databases, and Oracle has been one of the popular choices for years. Oracle's DBMS has long been a preferred option due to its robustness, reliability, and compatibility with SAP systems. 2. **Trend Toward SAP HANA**: - With the introduction of **SAP S/4HANA**, SAP’s next-generation ERP system, SAP has been heavily promoting its own in-memory database, **SAP HANA**. Many companies are migrating to SAP S/4HANA for its enhanced performance and new functionalities, which are optimized for the HANA database. - SAP HANA is often seen as a key enabler for digital transformation and next-generation analytics, leading to a migration away from third-party databases like Oracle. 3. **Reasons Companies Continue Using Oracle DBMS**: - **Legacy Systems**: Many companies are still running SAP ECC on Oracle DBMS because migrating to SAP S/4HANA and its HANA database requires significant effort and investment. - **Familiarity and Stability**: Oracle DBMS has been a stable and widely adopted platform, and some organizations may prefer to stick with it due to familiarity and a long track record of successful implementation. 4. **Transition to SAP S/4HANA**: - As part of the ongoing shift, SAP has been encouraging users to adopt **SAP S/4HANA**, which requires moving to the HANA database. Some companies may still use Oracle DBMS in their SAP ECC systems, but SAP is pushing for a transition to SAP HANA as part of their long-term strategy. In summary, while many companies still use Oracle DBMS with SAP ECC, the industry is gradually moving towards SAP HANA, especially with the push toward S/4HANA migrations. However, the pace of this shift varies, with some organizations sticking with their existing Oracle database setups for the time being. #sap #saps4hana #sapfiori #sapbw4hana #sapmm #sappm #sappp #sapsd #saphcm #sapfico #training #students #sapcertification #IDESdemoserver

  • ### **Why is a Planned Order Created?** 1. **Material Requirement Planning (MRP):** - A **Planned Order** is automatically generated during the MRP run when there is a demand for materials or finished goods, but the system determines that there is insufficient stock or capacity to fulfill that demand. - The system calculates the required quantity, the lead times, and when the materials need to be ordered or produced. It then creates a Planned Order as a suggestion to meet the demand. 2. **Production Scheduling:** - The Planned Order specifies the quantity of a material to be produced or procured, along with the required date and time. - It provides detailed information on what needs to be produced, when, and how much of it, helping planners schedule and allocate resources effectively. 3. **Creating a Basis for Procurement or Production:** - Once the Planned Order is created, it can be converted into a **Production Order** or **PRr**. This gives the production or procurement team a clear instruction on what actions to take. - A **Production Order** is used if the material is to be produced in-house, whereas a **PR** will be created if the material needs to be procured externally. 4. **Capacity Planning:** - The Planned Order helps in capacity planning, as it includes details about the production process, which allows for the allocation of resources (e.g., machines, work centers) to meet production deadlines. - This enables planners to check whether there are sufficient resources available to carry out the required production. 5. **Stock Level Management:** - The Planned Order helps to maintain appropriate stock levels by generating orders for material procurement or production, ensuring that stock is available when needed. - It is an essential step in keeping inventory levels optimized, avoiding stockouts, and preventing overstocking. 6. **Lead Time Considerations:** - The system considers various lead times (e.g., processing time, transportation time, supplier lead time) when creating a Planned Order. - This ensures that materials are ordered or produced early enough to meet the demand date. ### **Example of Planned Order Creation:** 1. A company produces a finished product **"Product A"**. 2. There is a demand to produce 100 units of Product A. 3. The MRP run is triggered, and the system checks if there is enough stock of the components needed to produce Product A (e.g., raw materials like Steel, Plastic). 4. If the stock is insufficient, a **Planned Order** is created to manufacture or procure the missing materials or components. 5. The Planned Order is then reviewed by the planner and can be converted into a **Production Order** (if producing in-house) or a **Purchase Requisition** (if procuring externally). #sap #saps4hana #sapfiori #sapbw4hana #sapmm #sappm #sappp #sapsd #saphcm #sapfico #training #students #sapcertification #IDESdemoserver

  • ✈️ ATA (Air Transport Association) SPEC 2000/AECMA (Aircraft European Contractors Manufacturers Association) SPEC 2000M in SAP MM. 🛩️ In SAP, ATA SPEC 2000 and AECMA SPEC 2000M are used primarily in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry to standardize the exchange of technical data for parts, materials, and components used in aviation and aerospace. When integrated with SAP MM (Materials Management), these standards help ensure that the information about parts, materials, and spare components aligns with industry norms. 👉 Understanding ATA SPEC 2000 / AECMA SPEC 2000M in SAP MM: ➡️ These specifications define how technical data (such as part numbers, materials descriptions, specifications, and more) should be structured for exchange and management. ➡️ It ensures that data can be uniformly transferred between suppliers, manufacturers, and maintenance organizations in the aerospace sector, which is crucial for inventory management, procurement, and maintenance operations. 🔥 How ATA SPEC 2000 / AECMA SPEC 2000M Is Integrated with SAP MM: 👉 Material Master (MM) Integration: ➡️ In SAP, the Material Master holds key data about materials, including descriptions, units of measure, and various technical specifications. ➡️ When working with ATA SPEC 2000 or AECMA SPEC 2000M, these specifications help ensure that the material descriptions and related attributes in SAP are standardized to match industry norms. This ensures the correct technical information about each part is stored in the system. 👉 Bill of Materials (BOM) and Engineering Data: ➡️ In the aerospace industry, parts often have specific engineering and maintenance documentation. These details can be captured in SAP MM using the Bill of Materials (BOM). ➡️ The BOM might include data such as sub-assemblies and components, which must align with ATA or AECMA specifications. The BOM helps ensure the assembly and disassembly processes comply with technical standards. 👉 Procurement Process: ➡️ In the procurement process, purchase requisitions and purchase orders can be created in SAP MM, and the associated ATA or AECMA part numbers are referenced to ensure the correct materials are ordered from suppliers. ➡️ This is particularly useful in the aerospace industry, where incorrect parts can cause costly delays or even safety issues. 👉 Inventory Management: ➡️ The use of ATA SPEC 2000 or AECMA SPEC 2000M in SAP MM helps manage the inventory of aerospace parts more efficiently. With standardized part numbers, descriptions, and technical data, inventory is better tracked, and procurement processes are streamlined. 👉 Document Management and Maintenance: ➡️ SAP’s Document Management System (DMS) can also be linked with ATA SPEC 2000 / AECMA SPEC 2000M data. This helps manage the technical documentation associated with parts, such as maintenance manuals, repair guidelines, and inspection procedures. #sap #sapcommunity #saps4hana #sappm #sapmm #sapsd #sappp #ata #iata #aecma

  • 👉 Scenario-Work Order in SAP PM- Using Control Key PM03 (External Services) 🔅 Scenario: External Repair Service for Equipment ➡️ Situation: A company has a motor that needs to be repaired, but the repair requires specialized expertise that their in-house maintenance team does not have. ➡️ Solution: The company outsources the repair to an external service provider (e.g., a vendor who specializes in motor repairs). 🔅 Step-by-Step Example: ⚒️ Create Maintenance Order-IW31 ➡️ A work order is created in SAP PM with Control Key PM03. ➡️ The order includes information about the motor that needs repair, as well as details about the required service. ⚒️ Define External Service in Work Order ➡️ In the operations section of the work order, an operation is defined for external service (e.g., "Repair motor by external vendor"). ➡️ The external service details are linked to a service master AC01 in SAP, which specifies the repair work to be done. ➡️ Release work order & an auto PR will be generated. ➡️ Create settlement rule using cost center. 🔅 Create Purchase Order ME21N with reference to auto generated PR ➡️ A purchase order (PO) is generated in SAP with ref. to PR to procure the repair services from the external vendor. ➡️ The PO specifies the vendor, the scope of services, and the cost of the repair. 🔅 Service Execution by Vendor ➡️ The vendor performs the motor repair as per the PO. ➡️ Once the repair is completed, the vendor submits a service entry sheet (SES) in SAP to confirm the work is done. 🔅 Service Entry Sheet (SES) ML81N and Log. Invoice Posting MIRO ➡️ The service entry sheet is reviewed in SAP and matched with the PO. ➡️ The vendor then submits an invoice for the repair services, and the system processes the invoice for payment. ⚒️ IW41-WorkOrder Confirmation ➡️ Confirmation is done that all operations have been completed. 🔅 KO88- Overall Cost Settlement ➡️ Overall cost is settled against work order involving cost element & cost center. 🔅 TECO-Tech Completion ➡️ Confirmed all actions completed from releasing workorder , order confirmation & cost settlement. ⚒️ Close the Work Order ➡️ After confirming the service is completed and payment has been made, the work order is closed in SAP. ➡️ The system updates the maintenance history of the motor and records the details of the external service. 🔅 Conclusion In SAP PM, Control Key PM03 (External Services) is used to handle work orders where third-party vendors or contractors perform maintenance tasks. By using this control key, SAP PM ensures that external services are properly procured, executed, and invoiced. The process involves creating the work order with PM03, defining the external service in the order, creating a purchase order with reference to PR for the service, confirming service completion, and processing the invoice before finally closing the work order.
