    Workshops on Best Practices in Online Education The Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), organized two training workshops at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad. The workshops, aimed at enhancing the state of online education, featured presentations and interactive sessions led by distinguished experts including Dr. Deborah Keyek-Franssen, Dr. Chanté Wilson and Dr. Abaidullah Anwar. The sessions were a significant step towards advancing online education readiness and internationalization, with participants engaging in discussions on a comprehensive playbook, readiness index, and next steps for the sector.     The three-day English Faculty Development Program concluded at HEC Islamabad today. It was organized by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) in collaboration with the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the US Embassy, Islamabad. The program, featuring renowned resource person Dr. Patricia Pashby, focused on three key themes aimed at addressing modern challenges and opportunities in English language education: Teaching Language through Literature, Exploring Culture in the Language Classroom, and Redesigning Assignments in the Age of AI. Addressing the closing ceremony, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed commended the efforts of NAHE and RELO for empowering English faculty members with innovative teaching methodologies and effective language strategies. The Chairman emphasized the importance of capacity building programs in enhancing the quality of education across higher education institutions. Managing Director NAHE, Ms. Noor Amna Malik stressed the need for participants to trickle down these learnings and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous development at their workplaces. Mr. Jerrold Frank, the head of RELO at US Embassy Islamabad, expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening the partnership and expanding opportunities for professional development and academic excellence.

    Addressing the launch ceremony of 3rd Phase of Digital Learning & Skills Enrichment Initiative (DLSEI), Chairman HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed shed light on the significance of HEC-Coursera partnership and underlined that the objective of bilateral partnership is to ensure maximum utilisation of the opportunity to provide Pakistani youth with online certifications and courses for skill development. He urged the universities, faculty and students to adopt the Coursera courses and take full advantage of the opportunity. Director of International Governments at Coursera Mr. Matt Klein said Coursera is honoured to partner with HEC to equip the next generation of talent in Pakistan with the skills and credentials needed to unlock their full earning potential in the digital economy. Member IT HEC Dr. Jamil Ahmad said that faculty and students can gain certifications and improve their skills in high-demand areas through foundational and advanced professional and specialisation courses from top global universities. DLSEI is a flagship programme jointly launched by HEC and Coursera to enhance digital literacy and skill development for university students and faculty.     3rd Phase of Digital Learning & Skills Enrichment Initiative Launched HEC Pakistan in collaboration with Coursera launched today the Digital Learning and Skills Enrichment Initiative (DLSEI) 3.0, under which 100,000 students and faculty across universities in Pakistan will be provided access to digital learning opportunities.       In the third phase of DLSEI, HEC will sponsor skill development opportunities for Pakistan’s youth by offering free access to over 12,000 online courses and numerous guided projects on Coursera. Registration is open for university students and faculty members of all public and private sector higher education institutions through https://lnkd.in/g8kjWzYk.  HEC launched DLSEI in 2018 in partnership with Coursera and the previous two phases of the programme upskilled over 45,000 young people through deep-skills specialised certifications from internationally recognised institutions, in addition to completion of more than 267,000 courses and above 200 universities gaining access to Coursera library. #DigitalLearning #DLSEI #HECPakistan #Coursera
