Should a probation period be part of employment or not? The need for a probation period depends on the organization's hiring practices, the complexity of the role, and the culture. Organizations should build comprehensive hiring processes that eliminate the need for probation period. Probation period leads to lack of trust on hiring process and may lead to losing talent, as skilled candidates might prefer organizations that show commitment from the start. If the hiring team conducts proper screening, uses effective tools and techniques for conducting interviews, personality assessments, and job-fit analysis, the probation period would no longer be necessary. Additionally, the process of changing an employee's status from probationary to permanent, adds no value to the organization.
