Under the DAFPAK project, PSI Pakistan brought together Master Trainers of Population Welfare Department Sindh from eight districts for an engaging and interactive Training of Trainers (ToT) session focused on male engagement in family planning. As the first initiative of its kind in Pakistan, PSI Pakistan is paving the way in actively involving men in family planning conversations. These trainings adopt a gender-transformative approach, encouraging men to become engaged and informed partners in family planning. By leveraging technology and building the capacity of Social Male Mobilizers (SMMs), we are fostering an enabling environment where families can make informed decisions—together. Building on the success of our earlier male engagement intervention in three districts with PWD, this initiative will now scale up to eight key districts in Sindh—Sanghar, Dadu, Ghotki, Umerkot, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, and Qamber Shahdadkot. In these districts, the Master Trainers will pass on their expertise by training Social Male Mobilizers (SMMs) and Family Welfare Assistants (FWAs), creating a ripple effect to amplify the impact at the community level. The PSI Pakistan team recently engaged in an insightful session with Alison Malmqvist, PSI’s Global Director of SRHR and Vice President for Fundraising and Communications. From aligning with Pakistan’s National Disaster Adaptation Plan to using the WHO’s framework for climate-sensitive health systems, she shared powerful insights on tackling climate change through a holistic, people-centered approach. Mr. Qamar Shaikh, Chief Health and MEAL Executive, warmly welcomed the team and provided a comprehensive briefing on HANDS and the Marvi model.
