What is a “second city” trip? “#Secondcity travel means #skipping the most #popularcity or region in an area and visiting the second-, third-, or fourth- (and so on) most-known spots,” said Phil Dengler, co-founder of The Vacationer. “Ultimately, you are avoiding the often overcrowded traditional and known tourist destinations. Instead of visiting Miami, you could visit Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach.” Although the literal meaning of the term refers to a country’s second most famous or populous city, it has indeed expanded to refer more generally to lesser-known destinations. Over the years, some have also interpreted “second city” travel to mean tacking on one of these less popular destinations to a trip built around a classic spot like Rome. https://lnkd.in/dt5RWyfp #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds

Indonesia plans to stop the #construction of hotels, nightclubs and villas in the popular resort of Bali. The measure is taken to reduce traffic jams, over-building and preserve agricultural land against the backdrop of growing tourism. A #ban has been imposed in four busy areas of the island: Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan. The moratorium can last up to 10 years, but the government will have the final say. It will be aimed at combating the excessive development of the island for commercial purposes, mainly the construction of hotels, villas and beach clubs. The number of foreign tourists to #Bali has increased since the island reopened to tourists after the coronavirus pandemic. According to government data, 3.89 million foreign travelers visited Bali from January to July 2024. compared to 2.9 million in the same period last year. Bali is home to around 4.4 million permanent residents. https://lnkd.in/dnXM_pyA #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds

About 22,000 people protested in #Barcelona on Saturday, in the latest demonstration to demand lower #housingrental prices and better living conditions. Housing has become a major issue in #Spain as it struggles to balance promoting tourism, a key driver of its economy, and concerns over high rents due to gentrification and landlords shifting to more lucrative, short-term tourist rentals. The price of rentals signed in the second quarter of 2024 in Barcelona was almost 70% higher than in the same period of 2014, data from the Catalan Housing Agency shows. https://lnkd.in/djeG7KHa #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds

Surprisingly, 42.5% admitted to breaking the law while on a trip. Moreover, nearly one-third (32.3%) say they’ve inappropriately posed with a statue while away. Additionally, 59.6% of Americans said they tip their standard amount or less while on vacation. https://lnkd.in/ddCKVFCN #tourism #Tourisminsights #pakistan #tourismindustry #AtharJ #ecotourism #sustainabletourism #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #tourismmarketing #60seconds
