The Limited Hotel

Though the hotel itself needed some updating the staff was extremely helpful. I forgot my toiletries bag as well as hair gel. Oliva and Madison at the front desk were able to get me everything I needed quickly. I was in for business meetings so these two saved the day and allowed me to make my meetings on time. They also called into a local restaurant they recommend and were able to secure a reservation for my customers and I on the day of. Everyone enjoyed the recommendation. I will be back thanks to these two and their hospitality. Great location!
Hilton Club Liberty Place Charleston

We stayed at Liberty Place over this past weekend. Upon arriving to the hotel, we were greeted with Zac at the valet pickup/drop off area. He was very pleasant and helpful. Our paths crossed multiple times over the weekend and he was consistently friendly. He is a wonderful representation for hospitality especially since he is the first face you're likely to see. We witnessed another guest who wasn't so happy and seemed to take it out on Zac (which he did nothing wrong). He was kind, courteous, and just let it roll off his back. When my car service didn't show to take us to the airport he assisted us in finding alternative transportation. He really is an asset to this hotel.

Aloft Charleston Airport & Convention Center

I had to ask for room changes 3 times by the time I checked in. First room smelled like eggs, second room had a couch/bench with stains in it. I asked Kendra for a room change the second time because the room was dirty and I didn’t feel comfortable staying in that room. The third room, she let me take a look at the room before agreeing to it. I scanned the room and found it relatively clean so I took the room. As I was settling in, I dropped my phone by the bed and nightstand and when I went to pick up my phone, I saw that there was a lot of debris, and there was more of it under the bench. There was also a plastic packaging for something, must’ve been left behind by the previous guest and wasn’t cleaned up. The bathroom toilet paper holder was also broken but I wasn’t able to discern that just by looking at it. When I spoke with Marriott’s customer service representative, Jane, I was told that I shouldn’t tell people that the room is fine and then change my mind and complain. There’s nothing that Marriott can do since I booked the reservation using a third-party website that offered military discounts, but the rooms should be clean regardless of what method of reservation anyone uses. I wasn’t under the impression that I needed to thoroughly investigate if the room I was in had been cleaned properly upon my arrival. Not sure how this is following Marriott International’s Commitment to Clean. As I’m writing this in the very room that I complained about, I’m also seeing webs in the corners of the ceilings. The room is disappointing but the manner in which Marriott and its associates addressed the situation is even more appalling. We will not be staying with Marriott in the future and encourage others to seek better accommodations when visiting the area.
Staybridge Suites Charleston - Mount Pleasant
4.6/597 Reviews
We were visiting MUSC and stayed at this property. We arrived at 6pm so were greeted with a complimentary beer and wine reception from 5pm - 7pm. Tom got us checked in, man that guy is great. The bartender, the breakfast attendant, housekeeping staff etc. everyone was great. We had to be at the hospital early, but door to door was 10minutes. We headed back to the hotel at 6pm, and again, only 10 minutes. Located 5 minutes from Shem’s Creek restaurants, Patriots Point etc. Really enjoyed this clean, well maintained property. Especially the people.
Charleston Kiawah Island/Andell Inn
4.7/554 Reviews
The good - The Andell Inn has a unique charm to it. The staff are attentive, the Inn has a great layout with elevated wrap-around porch overlooking the pool, and a lake with regular gators that visit daily at dusk (at a safe distance). The pool and outdoor furniture was clean and looked new. The included hot breakfast is upgraded with great coffee, pastries, with eggs, sausage, bagels, fruit, cereal, pancakes, you name it. It was great to visit within walking distance to shopping and restaurants at Freshfield Village. They had a farmers market, movie night and bingo. We ended our stay with the Jazz band at the bar in the evening. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Overall, there is a unique charm to this priority - it's a combination of great management, friendly staff, decor, and location. There is construction across the lake but it did not bother us. We plan to visit again in the future.
