As a Foundation we do things that matter. We set up and support a choir that serves as a haven for expats living in Wroclaw who love to sing but struggle to find a place to do so due to the language barrier. This time, we want to propose a special concert presenting Schubert’s “Winterreise” (“Winter Journey”). This cycle of 24 songs, composed shortly before Schubert’s death, is ranked alongside masterpieces such as Dante’s poetry and the paintings of van Gogh and Picasso. Yet, it is very rarely performed in its entirety in Polish concert halls, and we want to change that. On Monday, November 18th, on the eve of Schubert’s death anniversary, the entire cycle will be presented by two great artists to the audience in Wroclaw’s Oratorium Marianum. Join the concert and invite your friends! A famous British tenor wrote a book about “Winterreise,” so it’s fair to say that these songs are worth obsessing over!
