💫 Celebrating Poland's first technological and scientific mission to the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday, January 20, Extremo Technologies will be pleased to participate in an event organized by CGI Poland in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to Poland, in Warsaw. 🚀 Her Excellency the Ambassador of Canada to Poland Catherine Godin will host representatives of the Polish space sector - The President of the POLSA Polska Agencja Kosmiczna | Polish Space Agency Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna and experiments on the ISS. 🎤 We will talk about experiments in the first Polish mission to the ISS and the panel's topic will be: "Poland in orbit: How the first mission to the ISS can drive the development of the space sector." 💚 Our PI of the "SPACE VOLCANIC ALGAE" experiment Ewa Izabela Borowska will talk about the importance of innovative biotechnologies in the space sector in Poland and the importance of building the entire experiment from scratch. Dear all, on behalf of the entire Space Volcanic Algae team of Extremo Technologies, I would like to inform you that we have successfully passed the final Flight Acceptance Review and are ready to launch with Poland's first technology and science mission "IGNIS" to the ISS with astronaut Dr. Slawosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. 🚀 💚 As a Principal Investigator, I would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to building our green Cube from scratch. Now our wonderful volcanic algae 🌋 🧪 are waiting for launch. Special thanks to our Payload System Engineer, Antonella Sgambati, for the effort she put into our experiment, especially her advice on complicated procedures. Thanks to Leonardo Surdo and his team ICE Cubes Service for substantive support and development of ground software. Mihkel Pajusalu and the Tartu Observatory University of Tartu team for support in the construction of the main electronic units, an innovative oxygen sensor, and flight software. People who were responsible for supporting the experiment and cube construction: Janusz Pętkowski Karol Leluk Mateusz Wrazidlo and others. Dawid Urbański for support in software and electronics! 🌋 Space Volcanic Algae counts down the time to fly and be implemented on-board the ISS as Part of the First Polish Technology and Science Mission “IGNIS” to the ISS in Spring 2025. 🚀 The experiment cube SVA—Space Volcanic Algae, manufactured by Extremo Technologies, tested by the ICE Cubes Service team, and thanks to European Space Agency - ESA support — is ready to launch as part of the ''IGNIS'' mission. 🟢 This innovative biotechnological experiment will investigate the ability of extremophilic volcanic microalgae to survive and adapt to space conditions, with a view to future space missions and applications in closed-loop systems and space medicine. 🟢 The mission is a crucial step to assess extremophilic volcanic algae plasticity and multifunctionality as species for different types of use in the missions, as well as innovative sensors built by our team. The Space Volcanic Algae experiment 🧪 will be implemented 🚀 and functionally verified by Polish ESA project astronaut Dr Slawosz Uznanski and operated in the ICE Cubes Facility at the International Space Station Columbus module by ICE Cubes Service, while the Extremo Technologies mission team will guide and control the experiment from the laboratory according to coherent procedures from Earth. 📚 As an educational part of our mission, we will emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary STEAM education, which is an inseparable part of our company. ClearSpace The company, established in 2018, is developing in-orbit servicing (IOS) applications to support sustainable space operations. Their technologies aim to address disposal, in-orbit transport, inspection, assembly, manufacturing, repair, and recycling, promoting a circular space economy. Extremo Technologies The start-up uses extremophilic microalgae to create bio-regenerative technologies. Their focus is on enabling long-term human presence in space and contributing to environmental sustainability on Earth by innovating life support systems and environmental management. GATE Space GATE Space is working on green, chemical, in-space propulsion systems. Their flagship product, the Jetpack, is designed for small satellites, providing mission-lasting mobility and enhanced manoeuvrability, with an emphasis on cost-efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability.
