EDID25 aims to connect defence innovators with Member States and end-users - the program includes an exhibition, tech-talks and limited-participation breakout sessions. #Semiconductor Policy of Poland draft was just released for public consultations! Yesterday Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji published a draft document - the first strategy on developing #microelectronics and #photonics industry in Poland. It is a statement of ambitions based on recognition of country strengths. There are #7pillars of the proposed policy: ✅ Infrastructure – expanding/developing R&D centers as well as manufacturing facilities ✅ State as an innovation catalyst – including state-initiated projects, particularly through State-Owned Enterprises ✅ International cooperation – pursued on two levels: strengthening regional synergies and positioning Poland as a leader in photonics ✅ Investment and financing – drawing from various sources, including private capital, EU instruments and the national budget ✅ Human capital – focusing on education and talent support ✅ Energy and water – addressing the resource-intensive nature of semiconductor production ✅ Chemicals and raw materials – improving access to critical raw materials and engaging in EU regulatory discussions on chemical policies There is no English version of the document (yet - we'll share one asap). There is already a comprehensive review in English available by Polityka Insight (link in the comments section). #PPTF welcomes the recognition of #photonics as the national competence - microelectronics and photonics are indeed the two sides of the same coin. We support the #twosidesofcoin approach since several years. Integration of all national stakeholders of the twin industries was a reason to establish microEPC - Klaster Mikroelektroniki, Elektroniki i Fotoniki cluster in 2023. We'll be following the month-long consultations and eventual release of the final policy document.
