Our Research Scientist, Sylwia Mac, explains: “Driver impairment may have many different sources, including drowsiness, distraction, and driving under the influence, just to name a few. Driver distraction is a complex state, difficult to define, measure, and detect. It’s more than just tracking the eye movements or head position of the driver, especially while concerning cognitive distraction, which can be caused, among others, by mind wandering, or stress.
