Sano Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine – International Research Foundation, is a newly established organization dedicated to the advancement of computational medicine, developing sophisticated engineering methods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, to meet the overarching worldwide need for efficient, effective and radically streamlined healthcare. Sano brings together creators of promising IT solutions in the area of medical science with clinicians and industrialists who have the ability to transform them into exploitable tools and services, accessible to medical practitioners. Sano is based in the southern Polish city of Kraków, a premier academic centre with a large and continually growing industrial base and a wide variety of biotech, medtech, bioinformatics and technology start-ups. This location provides an excellent environment for Sano to pursue its mission. Operationally, Sano combines the most prestigious scientific grant currently available in Poland – the International Research Agenda project – with one of the most competitive grants in EU’s H2020: Teaming for Excellence Phase 2. Combined with additional Polish Ministry of Science guarantees, the Centre has secured significant investment of 30 million Euro over a seven-year period. With this scale of funding, and aided by an excellent European partnership network, we can be confident that Sano will bring a critical mass to this transformational field of research, in order to translate scientific advancements into clinical practice. ================================================ This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 857533 and from the International Research Agendas Programme of the Foundation for Polish Science No MAB PLUS/2019/13.
